Huffy Muscle Bikes and Schwinn Sting Ray's..... PICS ADDED !!!!!

After seeing Colin's post and the interest it generated I wanted to jump in. I too collect Muscle Bikes and Sting Rays from the late 60's and early70's, and have been for about 10 years............ I have four Schwinn Krates and just picked up a '68 Huffy "Wheel" Bike.......If anyone outthere has any info pertaining to the Huffy Wheel Bikes from the late 60's I am interested in it, looking for magazine and catalog advertisments, Dealerbrochures...anything at all.......I am even looking for another Huffy Wheel Bike if anyone has one for sale or trade <a href="mailto:vetteman78@webtv.net">vetteman78@webtv.net</a>............. Drew,<br><br>U ain't gonna believe this but my first brand new bike was a Huffy Green Draggin...and damn if it didn't have the same drag brake and it was the samecolor! Everyone please stop posting bikes from this era. I'm having a hard time fighting the fever to join in.<br>Drew, your new wheel bike is the bomb. We had a Western Auto in our small town and they had a version of this, not sure if it was Huffy and then sold asWestern Auto brand. Everyone in the hood back in the day had schwin fastbacks and a krate or two. I rolled on a Western Auto brand bike. Called the 'WILDTHING' with 24' knobby on the rear and 20' or 16' on the front. Multi color fade paint and rams horn handle bars.<br><br>Your wheel bike is really cool!!!!!!!!<br><br><br>

I had a yellow Raleigh Chopper. I had wanted a Lemon Peeler, but my mom and dad couldn't find one in the months leading up to xmas. They settled on theChop, and I had the only one at school. Funny how that worked out. Everyone else had their Krates, and I flew solo. After that one, I had a green SchwinnVarsity.<br><br>My nextdoor neighbor had one of those steering wheels on his bike. It was a Schwinn, though.

Colin, That is too cool man. I will check out the museum.........Scott, LOL!! Ain't that the truth!.........Mike, Thanks for the props...Pretty sure allthe Western Auto, Wards, Firestone, etc.. Bikes were made by Huffy, but whatever store was selling them they would slap their own name tag onit.......SHOerwin, Huffy did sell the "Wheels" separatly back in the day, but finding them today in nice condition is pretty TUFF! I had a Choppertoo back in the day, mine was Purple with Hot Pink Chopper letters and it was a 3 speed. That was like '73, I did also have a Lemon Peeler in'71....Thanks for all the responses so far.....
