Poetic Justice on the California Cell Phone Law

<strong>As many people know, California passed a state law making it illegal to drive and talk on your cell phone with out a headset device. Me personally, Ithink the law is BS, because it is still legal to text message, and the same idiots who cause accidents while talking on the phone while drving, are the sameones eating their Supersize meal, or putting on make-up, or looking through a briefcase all while driving.<br><br>Well, today, I was in the middle of traffic on the 110 FWY heading into Downtown LA when I was coming up on an unmarked Police Cruiser to my right side. Onlygoing about 15mph due to congestion, I got a good look at the officer and there he is with his window down, yakking on a Cell Phone...no headset...just onehand on the wheel and the other holding the phone to his ear.<br>Well, being an "outstanding citizen" I rolled down my passenger window and yell, " Hey...GET A HEADSET....YOU'RE BREAKING THE LAW!!!" Iguess I startled him, because he immedietly looked at me and my car as I was crawling past when...."DOINK!!!" He bumper tags the truck in front ofhim. Meanwhile, my lane keeps cruising....<br>Just thought I would share that one.</strong>

Trouble maker!<br><br>Actually, he may be Exempt from the law in which he is to enforce. Great story! There are those in law enforcement who THINK they are exempt. I figure the best thing a citizen could do is to snap a picture of an officerdriving while on their cell phone, then send the picture to the local TV news stations and/or newspapers. Also send a copy to the officer's boss. If lawenforcement officers can't set a good example, then what good are they?

Earl:<br>That is a good one for sure!!!!!!!<br>Here one for you, here in Indiana it is required by law to wear a seatbelt when driving. BUT!!!!!! police officers driving there cruisers are exempt from thelaw. So they enforce the law but don't have to abide by it??????????<br><br>Greg

Oh nice one Earl!! I also had to go to L.A. on Thursday and was crawling along on the 5 freeway, two chp had someone pulled over and a second later I see someguy on his cell phone chatting away. Thinking to myself no one is ever going to get a ticket for talking on there cell they just did that the first day to putthe scare out there...........next thing you know he is getting pulled over...lol.....

Nice.<br><br>I will say this, the hands free headset makes it much, much easier for me to flip through my atlas and write down the directions to my next shipper whileI'm cruising down the 405, 210, or navigating across the 5 to get to the 60 East (Pomona Freeway; left-hand exit) during rush hour (which is any timebetween 4am and midnight).<br><br><img src="http://www.ezboard.com/images/emoticons/smile.gif"><br><br>Joel
