"Suicides" came up in another thread, regarding mixing different flavors of pop together. Although I'm sure some of you call it soda.<br><br>Can anyone tell me what a slushburger is? (Da*n, even the spell checker doesn't recognize it!)<br><br>Jeff<br>
I think it's another name for Sloppy Joes.

When I first moved to New England (Massachusetts) from Chicago, I asked for a pop and the girl had no clue what I meant. She'd literally never heard thatterm apply to soda (or "Coke" regardless of flavor, as it's called in the South). She kept saying "<span style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;">WHAT?</span> do you want?"<br><br>Other New England regional terminology (although they may apply elsewhere as well): "Jimmies" for sprinkles (like you put on ice cream). Hamburg,which I couldn't stand hearing; it's hamburgER! "Packy" for a liquor store. "American Chop Suey" for beef macaroni. There wereothers, I forget. Maybe jotogodfrey or someone else will chime in.<br><br>Let's hear some others...
Forgot about a grinder, Greg. That's used in New England, too. It's a sub sandwich. But I think that one is more widespread.
I remember getting those pop mixtures here in Ontario as a kid .... we called them "swamp-water" !<br><br>.... and yes we generically called it all "pop" .... and still use "hamburg". What about "weiners" ? - great quicky lunch, beansand weiners.<br><br><br>Mark.

Funny... lived in SoCal all my life, and I don't know of any food lingo that started here... Garbage burrito maybe? Animal-style burgers at In-n-out?
