Question about a vintage toy gun...

Along with 1/64 and 1/48-scale cars (and other stuff), I collect old steel space guns (i.e., Buck Rogers' Atomic Pistol, etc.). There's one that has had me racking my (rapidly deteriorating!) memory and maybe someone here knows what I am talking about. In the '70s (possibly very early '80s), there was a plastic gun - pretty big - that was banned from further sale because of it's loudness (I do recall reading this somewhere). My friend - as a kid - had one, and I remember this stupendous THWUNG noise it made. I haven't been able to track down any info on this superior weapon and would love to see a picture of it or find out a name/manufacturer. That is the pistol version I was talking about. I think that I had one in the early 60's. Somebody in my family did, I remember how my little sisters hair would fly when I blasted it....Michael
