FLASHBACK!!
Got my HW room painted this weekend and am trying to put the displays back up, reorganize, blah blah blah, but I keep engaging in A.D.D. and finding stuff I forgot about...so hard to stay focused sometimes...
Found this blue print from androol that I still haven't framed...I've had it for over four years now...sheeeeeeeesh...

Then in the same "hidden" location I found these Odd Rod stickers that daspanic sent me probably four years ago too...what a neat surprise, these items have been buried for a long time under disorganized hoopla...
Here's a few of the stickers, I've got a lot of them thanks to Dave...

There was even a portrait of Discharger68 in the mix...

I see on the bp it reads 'electro-statically painted'? Who knew?

I though all redlines were sprayed with a standard paint application ...not electro-static?

No wonder the paint holds up so well.

Were the 1968s painted this way as well?
-
Yes, I've seen the electrostatic reference on a different Mattel in-house document, probably in one of the collector books. I thought it was common knowledge? (Not trying to be a smartypants, really!) It explains the even, thorough and consistent coverage, distant kin to powdercoating.

Yes, I've seen the electrostatic reference on a different Mattel

What book do you have?

I just looked through the 3 books I have and there is nothing about electrostatic paint application.

Of course, I live in SoCal so maybe that's the reason I can't find it.
Search Ransburg here Jeff. It's been discussed many times, and in Leffingwell's book.. how they changed over to a Ransburg system to get better paint coverage.

Love the old monster-hotrod art work Scotto.
Who doesn't remember the old ads in the back of old comic books.

I searched ransburg on the board search block and this post came up.

Leffingwells?
Scott you should frame those odd rod stickers too, that would look cool!!
-
I don't know that I would call it "common knowledge", but the paint method has been discussed on more than one occasion. It's what allows thin layers of paint to get even coverage with good adherence and why a lot of restorations (that don't use the process) have thick looking paint coverage that obscure detail.

Frame your blueprint!
Bought 2 in St. Louis and had them up by the next week end.
They are 35" x 22"" roughly, both framed and mounted, used UV glass and acid free paper, for $140.
This I'm sure it could be done cheaper, with a sale or coupon, but it gives you and idea of the possible cost. Had it done at Hobby Lobby.

These get some great reactions from non-hotwheel folks.

Surely your planning a "Peeper section" for the new layout, what better center piece.

Get it up!!!!!!!
