Anyone had their Appendix removed?

Hi All......I had to have Appendix surgery 5 day ago, as it was badly infected....Got out of the hosptal 2 days ago and don't feel to well....Just curious if anyone else has been down this road and how long before it gets better. Thanks.......Really bad timing with the convention so close.....Thanks again..

A 59 year old friend had his removed in January. He spent almost a week in the hospital, and was back at work a week later teaching cello lessons. If it'd been a more strenuous job, I think he'd have taken more time off.

Recovery depends largely on whether your appendix was removed laproscopically or if they had to cut you open (maybe a 5-6" incision). If you were able to go the lapro route you should be back to 80-90% in a matter of a week or so. However, if you had the old-fashioned kind of appendectomy it will be a couple of weeks before you feel anywhere close to normal and it could be a month or more to fully recover.

One of our salesmen had the old style operation where they cut him open.
He was in his sixties but it took him well over a month before he started feeling better.
Another friend in his mid forties had the lapro and was out on the boat 2 weeks later.
But both said those first 3 or 4 days sucked. Hope yours is the quicker recovery.

Thanks for the replies, It will be a week tomorrow and still not up to par. I guess a little while longer... Greg, I hardly drink at all, and only a few beers when I do and never smoked..Had a bunch of tests done with no problems at all.....knock on wood LOL! Thanks all!
