Computer moniter and board setting question.
I have two questions..
1.) I hooked up a new 20' today but if I try to view it as a 20' it just stretches out and distorts photos..any ideas, maybe if it was hooked through a HDMI cable? I have to size it down to a 17' to get a good screen.
2.) I have had this problem ever since the new board came to life but I don't have the problem anywhere else.?
When I open a post say...with a picture of several cars for sale it will not show them all, I have to look at maybe half if there all grouped together, then scroll down and use a scroll bar at the bottom of that picture to see the rest. Sometimes I have to move it enough just to see the next few cars then again to see the rest. The pictures are only on 1/2 the screen. I hope I explained this so that it makes since, I thought maybe there was some setting on the board that I didn't have set right in my profile page or something.
Thanks for any help you might have on this.
Mike

[SIZE=4]Mike,
Ya, you got a strange one. I have been in the computer biz on and off since 1993, before we had Browsers to see the World Wide Web.
If it is not doing it on any other program or webpage, it is not your monitor. HDMI cable should make no difference. It has to be the way your browser is displaying this website.
Not that I'm aware of, but possibly your web browser has some type of Custom Settings for each page. IDK, I use Google Chrome, and do not recall seeing any Custom SEttings to set for specific pages.
You might try another browser than the one you are using and see if that might possibly make a difference. Chrome or Firefox.
I know you can manually change the size of the page you are viewing by Holding down the Ctrl Key and using the Plus and Minus Keys by your number pad. This will change size small and large.
Wish I had the Magic Button for you to click! LOL Goodluck

Re: Computer moniter and board setting question.
Thanks Ken,
I use firefox and just loaded chrome but it's still the same. Maybe my computer is not configured for more than a 17' since it is a 2005 model? not sure if that makes any different's but thanks for trying, I appreciate it.
Re: Computer moniter and board setting question.
Mike, mine does the same thing as yours. I've talked to the mods about fixing this, cause it's only on this site that it happens. They couldn't figure out what was wrong. This is the only site that i have any kind of problem. Have a popup that says a runon has failed. That pops up all the time.

Change your screen resolution to something that matches the eye - I run 1920 x 1080, and then up-scale my browser to 150% (bottom right corner of browser) so the pictures don't appear as tiny. I assume your 17" was a traditional 4:3 form factor and your 20" is a 16:9 (like a widescreen TV).
It is impossible to buy a modern 4:3 form factor computer screen - the LCD makers get a better yield out of the widescreen format, which is fine for people who use their PC's to view movies, but imho is useless for web browsing as all websites are still designed around the older layout...
Re: Computer moniter and board setting question.
Thanks guys,
this all has helped a stumbling fool almost stumble across a decent fix. I don't have the problem of scrolling across to see the entire picture and the picture is not stretched as bad any more..I couldn't get mine to 1920*1080, it just doesn't go that high I guess being it from 2005 but i really apprecaite all your help, once I get out to cali and start selling the majority of my collection..and get me a nice 1:1 street rod i may break down and get a new computer for my self. My wife wants to keep this one since it has all here fav's,banking and all that stuff on it..she is a little afraid of change.
Thanks again.
Mike
Re: Computer moniter and board setting question.
The same issue happens for me when I'm viewing this website on my iPad. Certain larger scale pictures go through the right border and "off the screen". I can't scroll over and see them. If I check my laptop or my office computer, there's no issue. I made a risky purchase a few months back on a car I could only see half of because the picture was cut off. When the lightbulb in my head turned on to check my laptop, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that the other half was just as I had expected. It ended up being a great purchase, but a lesson learned... don't shop on RLOL using the iPad.
