The coolest ambulance you will see all day

Here is a 1972 Cadillac ambulance. The Bethesda Chevy Chase (Maryland) Rescue Squad bought 5 of these new in 1972, and kept one. It was in service for quite a while and has had some restoration done. It doubles as a hearse for those Rescue Squad members who pass away and wish to be carried in it for their funeral procession. Hard to appreciate the size of this thing in the photos, but it is about 21 feet long. Enjoy!

Back in 1986 I had the pleasure (not) of riding on a gurney in the back of one of these....The ambulance company had bought all of the remaining caddy ambulances and was able to still use them due to them being grandfathered in....I must say today's modern ambulance rides way better than these.....HJ
