Haboob?
Yep, that's what they call them. They're also known as dust storms. Some of you may have seen me post one of these on Facebook. These are for the rest of you! It's basically a rolling cloud of dust (we are surrounded by desert here in the Phoenix area). They are typically followed by heavy rain if we're lucky - if not there's a good layer of dust on everything. In either case my pool is disgusting and can take days to clean. This storm rolled through toward the end of July.

We had one last year that measured 8,000 - 10,000 feet high and 50 miles wide at times.

Oh the joys of living in the desert - as if 115 degree days weren't bad enough...

Interesting, driving on the highway when one of these hits, that would be a wild experience.
