A thought came to mind after I hit the post button....
Maybe being that it was a 'Canadian' coin,...they thought it was worth 'less'.... lol...

Given the number of scams being pulled on the streets daily, I can see why a lot of people wouldn't even talk to him. You never know what you are going to get with people these days. Perfect example:
a few weekends ago I was downtown , a guy comes to me and asks if he can use my cell phone to call his girlfriend to come pick him up. My untrusting nature figured something was up, so I ask him to tell me the phone number and I will call. He gives me a phone number, I dial, and ask him what her name is. He then says, it's my uncle (no longer his girlfriend like he originally said), and he only speaks spanish, and tries to grab for my phone. The girl I was with speaks spanish, so I give her the phone and tell him to tell her what to say...he then walks off. Best guess is he was hoping to get my phone in his hand so he could run off with it.
Obviously the guy in the video wasn't trying to steal anything from anybody, but based off of my story above, and other things I've encountered with random strangers, I can fully understand people not wanting to give him the time of day.
Hey Tom,....that reminds me of one day when we were right downtown Detroit back in the late '70s. We were trying to make a call at a phone booth, but the phone kept spitting out the dime. We figured it didn't take Canadian dimes. Don't know why,...they're practically the identical size and thickness...
...Anyhow,...there was a bus stop right there with about 5 or 6 people, so we approached and asked if anybody could trade our dime for a US dime so we could make a call.
Not ONE of them even so much as acknowledged our asking.... They all just stood there like statues... Not so much as a "sorry, don't have change", or even a "Hello" for that matter....
The only guy who talked to us was a scruffy lookin' black guy who looked like he lived in the street...and after asking us why we talk so funny.... he traded us a US dime... lol...
