Rob, Andy is promoting drive-by stonings, but we're not completely sure if it involves rocks.

Andy, you rant on and on about the American justic system and then you mention a case from Canada 50 years ago where a man was wrongly convicted? That'sthe reason why Illinois put a moratorium on death penalty cases - some people were shown to have been wrongly convicted. That's just a drop in the bucketwhen it comes to first degree murder charges. There are injustices. That we can agree on, but you're wanting everyone to fart sunshine andlollypops and it'll all make the world a happier place. Guess what, dude? It ain't gonna happen. People will continue to rape, torture and murderothers, including children.

So what say we find a large island in the pacific with shark-infested waters so that people can't escape (hey, who would want to? It's a tropicalparadise yaknow). We drop off all those poor, misguided kiddy diddlers, and you, Andy. You'll have your paradise, away from all those barbarians who wantto put people to death for their crimes, away from all those nasty guns that kill people, and you can sit around the campfire and sing kum-ba-ya until yourlungs explode. Or, until one of those people you have so much compassion for smothers you with a coconut husk and has your liver for dinner. Fava beans andchianti optional.

Justin, that was beautiful! (post #406)

How about persons found to have some sort of fairly serious mental disorder. Some one who really is totally unaware of what there actions are. There is a diff between someone with say a severe case of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, and someone of sane mind. Is there a diff to you or anyone?

You originally directed that at Jamie by prefacing it with your tete a tete with him, but you left it wide open with the last word. Thanks! Read back throughmy posts in this thread. I addressed the issue in regards to those unable to understand their crimes. Those are few in number. In fact, more people try to fakebeing unable to stand triel than there are those who indeed are not of sound mind. The last time I was called for jury duty, the defendant was being chargedwith a violent felony. They did not specify which type at that point of jury pooling. The subject of mental capacity to stand trial came up. I had beenobserving the guy for a while, as he was behaving as though he grew up riding the short bus. A few times, I noticed him respond to some questions, taking aquick peek at the jury pool. Busted, dude. I stood up and asked the judge for permission to approach, and did. I pardoned myself for my bluntness and language, then told the judge that I'm a behaviourist and in all honesty felt that the defendant was full of crap.
I was excused and have not received a jury duty notice since. Oh, and the guy was found able to stand trial, did so, was found guilty of aggravated sexualassault and aggravated assault with intent to kill.

I just have a real problem with executing people once they have been contained. Did any deterents work for them? No.

Let's see. We live in a society where it's difficult to find a movie in theatre that has a rating lower than PG-17. The top video games involve carjacking, killing, blowing things up, and so on. A lot of people are pretty numb to violence.
Mere knowing that there is a death penalty has no effect for the vast majority. Do you actually think that people stop and ponder "hmmm.. if I off thisdude, I could get the death penalty."? Hell no. They know the system and figure they'll get a sentence that they'll only serve four to eight yearson, then back out on the streets again. I was appalled yesterday to learn the sentence of one guy for killing someone was along the lines of life in prisonPLUS 60 years. As if that makes sense in the first place. What are you gonna do, keep em in until they die and then keep their corpse behind bars for another60? Pfft. My point is, he may qualify to be out on the street again in 30 years. That is why people demand truth in sentencing laws.

Now, knowing all that, do you actually think that someone fears a stiff prison sentence, much less a death penalty that in most places means he'll spendthe rest of his life in prison? That is why some of us propose televising executions. Hell, make them public AND put it on pay per view!

Andy said:

A lot of wrap and a lot of country have one thing in common. Kickin' the crap outta people!

Just when I felt you couldn't get any more ignorant...
1) It's rap, as in old slang for to speak, not wrap.
2) Please name a Country song that was written within the past two years, that has to do with kickin the crap out of people. Hint: Redneck Mother was written along time ago.Dan, that warm feeling may be a weak bladder. Better check
Just to give a refresher for anyone that did not hear about this in the national news. last year in the summer, a woman and her unborn baby were murdered by aCanton police officer. the woman was Jessie Davis and the officer was Bobby Cutts Jr, he was married and she was his girlfriend...and they already had a twoyear old boy together. he was found guilty of murder for Jessie, and two counts of aggravted murder for the unborn baby, which was his and was about a week orso from full term. the aggravated muder convictions bring the possibility of the death penalty. and penalty phase of his trial just finished up, and now thejury will decide his faite. so here is my question, would you as a juror spare him his life or send him to his death?
Send him to his death...plain and simple.

he new the price he will pay if he got caught, he made his bed now he should lay in it.......off with his head!!

Hey Rob,

That's not really a fair question, without knowing all the facts and circumstances brought out in the trial, I'm not against the death penalty, I'mfor it. Only the jurors with all the facts/or the judge with all the facts can make that determination.

Denny
If I would have walked in on this crime, I wouldn't have a problem killing the perp on the spot, and no-one should ever have to pay the price forintervening in such a crime, BUT, once the perp has been apprehended in one or several pieces, it is nothing short of barbarism on the part of the state tohold a person with that sort of eventual outcome. I'm against capitol punishment, period! And for anyone who's concerned about the cost ofincarcerating someone for life,......it's more expensive to battle in court for death! I'll tell you what barbarism is,....Texas executing mentallydeficient minors. That's hideous an no more above that of this perp's actions. I understand that he, or the victim was Canadian. Could be wrong. If youmurdered my mother, you'd be the lucky recipient of my humanity. And if you are a Christian, you have no choice but to do what Jesus would have done, andyou will know that there is no conflict between the commandment 'Thou shall not kill', and the 'eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth' thing as aneye for an eye was never intended as a form of retaliation of equal consequences. Life imrisonment isn't sparing him his life. He'll never have a lifeagain in prison and he'll agonize to no end. Personally, if given a choice, I'd opt for execution were I him, or any others. Just my 2 bits!Andy

I would say take the fu***er out back and put one in his ear and be done with it....then Id be dismissed from jury pool......I dont care if hes a cop ornot.....only thing worse than a child molester/killer is a SOB that would kill a pregnant woman. he deserves to roast in hell......not that I believe in thatplace, cuz Im not a Christian, but its fitting.
Any quick execution is too easy...too kind for this guy.

As a former Police Officer, he ought to be REAL popular in the joint.
Especially doing a life sentence among the worst of the worst.
I say put him in with Bubba for about 40 or 50 years when he croaks on his own.
Or next week if comes then ... but at least he'll live in utter misery.
Death is bliss.
I never understood the whole make the death sentance humane...if you did something bad enough to deserve the death penalty, why should your demise be pleasant?
I say toss 'em through a wood chipper feet first or something, but being basically put to sleep then injected with a tiny needle is pathetic.

Oh yeah, I'm kinda with Greg on this one though...the worst punishment they could give him is put him in jail with no chance of parole, and let it be knownhe's a cop (no offense to any of you in law inforcement) and a baby killer, and put his happy ass in the middle of the excersize yard.

Oh yeah, I'm kinda with Greg on this one though...the worst punishment they could give him is put him in jail with no chance of parole, and let it be known he's a cop (no offense to any of you in law inforcement) and a baby killer, and put his happy ass in the middle of the excersize yard.
I agree. Death is quick and once it's done it's done. Let him live and suffer every day for the rest of hislife for what he did to his wife and unborn child.

~Karen
I'm OK with both scenarios here. The death penalty is a necessary thing, in my opinion. But it would be nice if he was locked up with Bubba until he rotsto death, BUT, more than likely he'll be protected because of his law enforcement background. Probably solitary confinement, or an area with non violentfelons?? I don't think they'd let him mesh with the hardened criminals...but if they do, I'm very OK with it...what a piece he is...

Either way- as long as this human garbage is disposed of, it's fine with me. But thinking about it - let's kill him now and not spend 30K-50K a yearto keep the creep alive.
He killed a pregnant woman, with his child no less, so he could avoid facing his responsibilities, he should be put to death period! I will never understandthe people who say the death penalty is barbaric. As far as what Jesus would do, the penalty in his time for breaking the commandments would have been that youwere stoned to death, modern lethal injection is far less barbaric than that and is more than this guy deserves.

I'm against capitol punishment, period!

Really. I think it's horrible to punish a building for something it didn't do.

Andy, it doesn't matter if someone's Christian or not. In spite of having George W Bush in the White House, we do still have some separation of churchand state. Which media source did you derive the part about Texas putting to death "mentally deficient minors?" Citation(s), please. Are you awarethat many people head north of our border every year to escape into Canada and thus a possible death sentence? It's because Canada will not extraditepeople facing the death penalty. Mexico used to do the same but not any longer. They are changing their laws and if some guy like Bobby Cutts Jr were to fleeto Mexico and was caught without the press knowing of it, he'd possibly disappear altogether. People there do not like having rapists and murderers fleeingthe US into their country.

Karen, just a minor technicality: the woman was not his wife, but his pregnant girlfriend. He does have a wife (did? Not sure of the status) and she too is avictim, as she has to deal with her husband being a vicious murderer.

On the death penalty, some of you already know that I'm very much for it. Er, now you all know. It's not just a Texas thing either. I don't believein keeping convicted criminals like Cutts alive for the rest of their lives at the expense of the state. If given a penalty other than death, he will have tobe kept in confinement, along with the child molesters/killers and others who are scum to other prisoners. Hell, even the child molesters will try to scorebrownie points by offing a former cop (or lawyer), especially one like Bobby Cutts Jr.

Not one bit of his courtroom histrionics brought forth any emotion in me towards him other than disdain. Hell, lethal injection, no matter what the ultra-whinyamong us who think even that's cruel and inhuman, is too good for the likes of him. I'm aware of the costs involved in lethal injection and it makes mequestion why the cost is so high. I'm all for a bullet through the medulla oblongata of people like that. Complete lights out in a split second. All brain activity ceases immediately. Okay, so their family won't be able to have an open casket funeral following that type of execution. Boo frickinhoo. Blow their brains out through their foreheads, harvest whatever viable organs possible and cremate the rest of them. No sense in their taking up realestate after their deaths too.

kitty, volunteering to help build that express lane in Huntsville.

Are you aware that many people head north of our border every year to escape into Canada and thus a possible death sentence? It's because Canada will not extradite people facing the death penalty.
Yeah, I don't mind my own country not having the death penalty, but if you commit a crime and run across the border you should be handed backover on a silver platter. Now we've got this Canadian who killed a bunch of Americans in Montana, if memory serves. He's crying that our governmentwon't beg to have his life spared. I say we leave him to the Yanks.
theres enough people on death row for 40 or 50 years....isnt tax money wasted on scum spent better elsewhere?
Okay! Capit'al' ! Embarrassing spelling error! Several times over the last few years I've heard mention of this 15 or 16 year old retarded personbeing put to death by the State of Texas (Is that a Polish flag with a star on the side?). It may have been back as far as 's Governorship. I can't recall the various sourcesKitty but it comes up occassionally when the D.P. is discussed. And no, we don't deport to countries who do such barbaric things! And also, about thatkiller canuck in Montana. Our current right wing Christian government seeks to turn back the clock of human evolution to more barbaric times with their mentionof the D.P. returning to Canada, and their unwillingness to intervene in Montana. I don't see the demeaning word 'beg' anywhere in our actions orlexicon. We don't beg, we command!!! It's in our National Anthem! 300,000,000 of them, 32,000,000 of us............Odds in our favour Batman!Andy

Here's what I'd do. I'd walk in the room and ask him: "Would you rather serve life in prison with Bubba and no 'protection' fromeither the inmates *or* other officers, or would you rather be killed 'humainly' by lethal injection?"

But I'd present that question in such a way as to make him second guess his answer. "If I say I want life without parole, will they then sentence meto death?"

As he stewed over this, I'd put a revolver an one bullet on the table and leave the room and lock the door behind me. So, he can either starve to death(living life in prison without parole) or lethaly inject a bullet in his own brain.

As a juror, though, I'd vote death.

Why is it (usually) the same people who demand the right to kill babies and baby the killers? I've never understood that. Never will. Don't wasteeveryone's time trying to explain it.

Joel.
For all of you who would keep him in prison for life...you must be willing for your tax dollars, $40,000+ per year, to keep this POS in clean clothes, 3balanced meals a day and a warm bed to sleep on every night. I am not willing to use my tax dollars for that. If he stays in prison, he gets to tell his BSstories day after day, proclaiming his innocence and whatever else he wants to tell. He could have visitors, play cards or dominoes, amongst otheractivities.

What we need to do is rid the world of these kinds of people...

You guys getting my drift? What we should do is wipe him off the face of the earth, plain and simple because we cannot change what he has done. A lifetime ofbeing locked up will not bring back the victims or help with closure to the family. I don't care what we do to the criminal, it will never give fullclosure to the family and friends of the victims...NEVER!

And because he was a cop, he will be protected from the bada$$e$. While in prison, prisoners are property of the state and the state is responsible to makesure that nothing happens to the inmates. Very large lawsuits have been won by families of the inmate because of the state not taking care of the prisoners.

These are some of the reasons I say death to the POS.
Here here!!............Start the death machine!! Lets get some kill'n done...
I dont think this person even deserves to be referred to as a ex-police officer. He was a scumbag pretending to be one as far as im concerned. It also pissesme off how the media loves to point out he was a "police officer". People love to make a fuss that someone was in law enforcement when they dosomething terrible. But we never see these media pansies praising the police for good deeds. No wonder most people have no respect for the police and thinkthat all cops are violent racists that harass people for a living. Now id like to see the media put all this effort towards broadcasting stories day in and dayout about the men and women that do their jobs with honor and integrity and loose their lives in the process. But then who wants to hear about officer JohnBrown that gave his life while raiding a meth lab or was gunned down by a fugitive during a traffic stop. Yeah thats boring news.

But as far as this scumbag goes its not my job to decide. As pointed out earlier its the jury's job to make the ultimate decision concerning his fate.Personally i think a murder, rape, or child molestation conviction should carry a mandatory death penalty and that public hangings need to be brought back sopeople can see first hand what happens when you are tried and convicted of these crimes. Lethal injection is too quick and easy. Not too mention all thosedrugs they pump you full of cost money. Get some rope and build some wooden platforms in front of the courthouses. Upon being convicted bring them out and hangthem. No BS sitting on death row. No tax dollars spent housing them. Just quick deliberate punishment/public humiliation for their crimes. Problem solved!
Kill the POS! He's so sorry now, aren't they all when they get caught. Been following this since the beginning since it's" in my back yard soto speak". Womanizer, abuser, stalker, killer. GOOD RIDDANCE !!...dave
Due process does have it's place. You can't just take them out behind the woodshed, not today, not with this system. West Memphis Three ring any bells.Having said that, if you do take a life, and it's not an 100% accident, you do 100% deserve to repay that debt. But, I think the ole system needs anoverhaul. I think that death penalties should be PPV events, and the money paid to the state where the execution is broadcast from. If WWE and MMA can reapyour entertainment dollars, so should this event as well. Let the future killas get a first hand visual impact of what they can expect to follow into thefootsteps of.

I'm tired of hearing about lawsuits that challenge if lethal injection is humane or not-I simply don't care. Give me a break already. I'm tired of it, it's a land of wussies and wussie rights. I want to see stoning for this latestgreatest killer. I want him buried to his neck, and for the family to huck boulders at his dome, and I want it on PPV, and that WOULD SEND A MESSAGE. Givingsomeone the needle, unseen to anyone but 12-20, does nothing to send any type of message to the masses. In CA, we pay $500/week to buy them apartments when they release to thestreets. Most are just waiting to go back, because they can't stop themselves. Tired of it. Bring back drawn-n-quartered, show that on PPV, and startlining them up. If your a priest, you move to the head of the line, that's right, you get "cuts" if your a man of the cloth. This will also helpto bring the horse industry back, which has taken a hit from all the Indian gaming casinos. The state needs the funds, and you just helped to bring backanother industry. Think of the horses please.

Why are the prison full of victimless crime felons? We can't think of anything better for these people? Free Greyhound shuttles "to" the border daily. Employers pay the state for their team of workers and their security, the felons collect a dimefor his hard work, he/she learns that hard work pays off, illegals start to leave-NO WORK-no money, blah blah blah. I always love the responses to these questions. The outrage. The cry for justice. No amount of pain will suffice for this a**h***. How about this. That would teach this punk a lesson he would not forget. Oh yeah!! Its all good.
It probably won't surprise anyone here that I am against the death penalty.

You don't show people that killing is wrong by killing people. Thomas Jefferson's famous phrase: If you relinquish freedom for security, you deserve neither! Same kinda thing with the D.P.. What kind of justice systemdo you have if it executes innocent people. It's more important in a democracy to protect 1 innocent person from such a fate than to let many go. If youdon't have democracy, what do you have? A dictatorial sheep farm which scapegoats people. I also can't belive the rhetoric comin' from theChristian element in this thread. Ya, I can see Jesus putting his carpentry skills to work building a gallow, gas chamber, or guillotine! Maybe though, itwould work if the meaning of the word 'carpenter' were interpreted differently. How's this, instead of just thinking of a carpenter as a person whobuilds things with wood, think of the metaphor. A 'house' is a 'family or body of people', dad builds the house with his 'wood', getit?! Here's another spin. I could see Jesus executing people if he were a Car Penter. Car=Burn, Penter=one who constructs or uses things that come in 5s,like 'Pentacles' or the Roman Numeral V, which incidentally, is an English symbol for Christianity. Ever watch the show from the '70s called V? Thebad guys weren't aliens, they were Christians. A burning pentacle is a demonic symbol in Christianity! Why is it that most often, it's believers orreligeous folks who want the D.P.? I'll tell you why. Because they're psychologically evolutionarily delayed! They're still learning how to becomehuman! Enough! Andy

The person we are talking about is NOT innocent so that rant is pointless, and attacking other's religious beliefs really just removes all credibility fromyour argument. I am pro-life
I attacked no Christians, I posted an observation! Just because you're a Christian, doesn't automatically make you a law abiding citizen. 80% ofAmericans believe in God. I guess the only criminals are the ones that comprise the remaining 20%. If you are a Christian, you follow the path of Jesus, notsubscribe to that perverted garbage schemed up by a bunch of no-goods who are merely 1/2 of a chromasome away from being a chimp! If you are a Christian, youwould take no offence to my words. If you are the latter I mentioned, ya, I've dealt with that kind all my life! Who do you follow, Jesus? There is only 1Christ. If you are a CHRISTian, you are that of Jesus. I'm not even a Christian but I'm more like him than 95% of the so called Christians I'veever met. Maybe I am him, prove me wrong! Many people have told me that I look like Jesus, whatever that is (olives anyone?) Funny though, I have a birthmarkin the same place and the same size and shape of the crucified Jesus' stab mark in his ribcage, not to mention my life experience. Ya, Jesus was acarpenter, and he had offspring whose genetics spilled down through the ages. That's it. That's my new belief and everyone else is a heathen!Andy
There is going to be a margin of error...............that's life.............
One more thing to consider. Catholicism, which is the only one true religeon (LOL) says that the soul doesn't enter the body until it reaches foetushood. How many weeks along is that? I guess you're not a baby or a person until that time. So if you are reading this as a zygote or something, you're outtaline. As far as I know, in Judaism, life doesn't technically begin until you've taken you're first breath. So unless Mom drops in snorkel, I guessyou don't exist. So which belief is correct? I'm not defending the killer, and it's all very repulsive to me. I'm not even one for abortions, and especially later term ones, but I do realize that it's a womans choice what to do with her body, but certainly not the perps decision!Andy

At one end of the spectrum you have a justice system which includes the deathpenalty. Occasionally innocent people will be put to death by mistake under this sytsem. At the other end of the spectrum (commonly called the liberal end) thesystem will allow guilty people to walk free occasionally rather than risk killing an innocent person. This is done by demanding a very high degree of proofbefore convicting . We in the U.S and Canada are living under the liberal system at this time. But the pendulum does swing in response to public outrage at somany guilty people being released only to kill, rape, or rob again. The point is that if you want the liberal system don't whine about criminals walking thestreet. You have gotten what you wished for.

ok, love the responses. let me throw a little more detail to the horrible crime he committed. one evening he goes to her home, and the two year old boy isthere as well. aparently from what he says there is an arguement, a struggle and he accidentaly kills her...yeah right. he actually yelephone a woman friend ofhis after she was dead and, and she helped dispose of the body. the woman accomplice said that he had motion that he killed her with a choke hold...anyways.this murder takes place right in front of the two year old boy...the two year old boy witnesses his daddy kill his mommy!!!!!! he then raps her up in a floorrug and drives off to dispose of the body. now mind you she is dead, but the baby inside of her is still alive at this time, and probably was for another houror so. so he could have saved his unborn daughters life!!!! he drives around thirty miles or so to a park in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. there theydispose of her body with the baby still in her in a make shift grave. nine days later...NINE DAYS...he decides to cooperate and leads police to the body. youtell me that this POS doesn't deserve to die. the ONLY reason he was not found guilty of aggravated murder for killing his girlfreind, was due to the factthat the body was decomposed to babdly and the medical examiner was unable to determine the cause of death, just that she died by the hands of another makingit a homicide. i firmly believe he went there to kill her, but that could not be proven cause it would have taken him to admitt that, but he said it was anaccident. also, the womans mother went over to her place two days...TWO DAYS!! after she was last heard from and found the two year old boy home alone in avery soiled diaper. the boy said...daddy mad...mommy in rug!!!!!! this low life scum sucking POS deserves to be taken out back and shot!!!! an eye for aneye!!! an eye for an eye.............................
That is vile! I understand the sentiment. No Liberal wants bad guys walking around anymore than innocents being put to death. The trick is to strike the rightbalance. There is a homeless guy in my small town who when he was about 12 witnessed his Dad kill his Mom. It absolutely destroyed his life. He was livingunder a tarp in a hole on abandoned land by the harbour last winter. This guy just can't get it together. He's spent the last 25 years or so sellingdope, break-ins, thievery, etc....The last I heard he was draining parking meters in the middle of the night. There's a lotta folks around here who wouldreally rather just see the guy dead, just about all of whom are right wing Christians! This speaks to Christianity for me! I'd just like to point out that "compassion" for a criminal doesn't mean setting them free.

Compassion means giving them the opportunity to be fully accountable and fully responsible for their actions. This is the only way to turn a crime into apositive thing. If we just kill them, no one is served and nothing is accomplished; the only thing we've served is our need for revenge.

But there's no such thing as revenge. It's a mirage.

Greg
