A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Vintage and antique items. Either I still have them and are recent, or I have sold them. This is what I do to keep going. Here is a sample of about 3-5 years of stuff. NOTE: some dates on the pics are incorrect, please ignore them.
I bought this a few weeks ago for $9.50. I can probably sell it for 50-100 after I get a test drive with it. I already have a buyer interested for 100.

For those who missed it, this came in just this past weekend. It is a 1950-1953 GE clock radio. Sadly, all five tubes I believe are dead. The radio may still have value, because it is a BAKELITE radio. For those who don't know, these radios tend to have cracked or broken cabinets...this one is just fine! you can replace tubes.

This is probably the nicest example so far of these bikes. It is a German built Sears Ted Williams badged Free Spirit. It is equipped with an AUTOMATIC (yes, AUTOMATIC) 2-speed kickback rear hub. The bike folds up as well which was a fad in the 60s and 70s. Since I discovered this and posted it on a couple of collector's forums, it has stirred up discussion. Many of the one's I've seen have been in pretty rough shape compared to this.

I also have been working with an antique dealer. Here is some stuff he had me sell (I got a cut of it. I just wish this stuff sold as fast as the promo car he had)

Yes, the car is autographed.

This bicycle is a 1934-1935 Rollfast built by DP Harris. It is a mish-mash of parts and was somebody's Hot Rod bike in the 70s. I have parted it out, and showing current pics of it could make some of you guys cry. I have well made my money though.

A score from a few months back and I'm not sure if I want to sell it. I found this 1941 Crosley 52TA for $10 at a garage sale. It works like a charm after I cleaned it out and did some very minor work. I had fun doing it.

1920's slaw cutter. A person I know needed some stuff for her booth at a flea market, so I let here put it there to sell, hey, it's free and fills up that space!

Old Matchbox Super Kings. bought it for 25 or 50 cents around 2007/2008. Took me forever to sell it, I just sold it this past Feb. Never again will I deal with Super Kings. I had $10 on it, sold for $5.00 Oh well, can't win them all.

Last year, I made a big score of Classic Car parts, so don't go away!

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
An estate sale in 2009 on the last day of school lead me to score after score for WEEKS! On the first day, we negotiated, and finsihed up in the morning. It was over a small lot of old car parts for the man's restored '64 Ford Thunderbird. I came back in the morning and the guy had MORE out. I asked how much for all of it? $20! HOLY CRAP! I tried to go berzerk, my dad was frustrated with me for buying it, but he also said he knows I can sell it very fast, so he was cool with it. Here are the car parts from that score:
Trim for the tail light lenses:

Outer trim for the tail lights:

Drain Hose:

Some of the parts were incorrect for the car. Like this gem. For those who do not know, this is off of a 1957 T-Bird. I kept this sucker!

The day before or so, I found the knobs for the radio in a little baggie for .25 cents!

A week later, I buy the radio for a $1.00

That is just the T-Bird parts, heck, I know I missed some, I just have to find the old pics! I had lenses, badges, and some other do-dads not pictured.
Later that month, or so, I went with my friends to a church rummage sale. I found a set of hub caps. They said "Nothing special, look like Econoline hub caps" I said no they are not, they doubted me, and I bought them for $4. I sold themf or $70.00 They went to a 1962-1963 Ford Sunliner!

I have other parts as well, but I'll keep those pics to the vault for now. Most of these parts went to putting more Classic Cars back on the road! I got some cash doing it too!
A month earlier that year, I found some GM parts, a box full for $5.00 many of which have been sold as well.

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
This is my favorite rider! A 1963 Huffy decal badge bike. First year for that and pretty rare. I got it at a garage sale about 2005/2006. It was covered in oil and I got it for $2.00 and it originally wasn't for sale, but I asked. I was going to use to part out and fix my '63 Columbia. GLAD I DID NOT. I spent a summer cleaning and fixing it up, cleaned every last spoke nipple. Rides great and is really an attention getter! NO I'M NOT SELLING HIM!

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
I'm back and I've found some more pics. But first, the pics are gone, but the stories remain. Here are few of the items I sold a long time ago (no pics)
I started scrapping things in 2007. One night, I get an old vacuum cleaner. It is a Hoover Converitble, with a set of unused bags from the 60s or 70s. It was a cream color and a wild looking 60's green. It even had a setting for shag carpet! I decided to spare it's life and sell it on the bay. I got to cleaning it and tested it out, it worked fine and looked great! I had a swarm of vacuum cleaner collectors bidding for it. It sold on Jan. 25, 2008 for $31.00. Not bad, considering I just found it on the curb one night. :D
Now that I know that there is a market for old vacuums, I did a little poking around and now, I keep an eye on them and if I find them for cheap, I bring 'em in. These two recently came in in. The Royal about 3 or 4 weeks ago, I'm waiting to hear back on somebody (says they can decifer the numbers, although I believe it is a 1968-1971). The Hoover has only been here for a couple of weeks and is a 1967/1969. The Royal was found for $6.00, the Hoover for the same price.
The Hoover:

Take it from someone who does this for a living, it needs a cap job before plugging it in. If it hasn't been serviced in years, then you are asking to damage it. At a minimum remove all tubes from the cab except the rectifier and bring up the voltage slowly using a VARIAC constantly monitoring voltages on your main filter caps. NEVER plug in a vintage radio without pulling the chassis and inspecting it, unless you know that it works or has been serviced first.
That being said, cool stuff!

Yea, I had to do deep cleaning on that Crosley when I got it. I was also told that it works, but the crap inside made me doubtful. There is a guy that does this work for a living and that GE is beyond my skills. Two of my friends collect old radios and they have the info on the guy.

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Being still relatively young (19) lol I find alot of this stuff interesting and alot of people think its odd. But I've always prefered the older made stuff cause it's quality! Anyway here's my collection that I've shown off once or twice here and since we are already showing off the bikes :p. But they really are the only collectibles I truely pride myself in owning, besides the redlines of course lol....
(1972 Apple Krate - 1971 Pea Picker - 1971 Apple Krate - 1969 Orange Krate - 1969 Lemon Peeler - 1972 StingRay Fastback)

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Sweet! Did you restore all of those yourself? I know that come parts for Muscle Bikes right now are through the roof! I have a European one sitting out in my..junkyard. I may restore it, part it out, or junk it. I might just let it sit and rot. I'm in a bind, and if you saw pics, trust me, you would see why.
-
Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Believe it or not all those are completely original except the seat on the Orange Krate. Once I find one I completely disassemble it and clean the crap out of everything, nuts, bolts, spokes, you name it. Then once I'm satisfied I put it all back together and enjoy. The 1971 Apple Krate in the middle was found at a yard sale probably 15 minutes from my house. 200 bucks later and it was sitting in my garage. Same with the Pea Picker. Bought it for $300 and it's a disc brake Pea Picker. I had people offering $300 just for the rear rim and brake assembly but I am not one on parting these things out cause it's only orginal once you know. I go to garage sales all the time in hopes to find something worth flipping. Sometimes you hit gold other times your lucky to equal out the gas you've used in all the traveling. But whenever you do hit that gold it's what makes it all worth it

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Today at my step-dad's place, I scored an old Filter Queen vacuum cleaner from the 60s or 70s. I now hear that the accesrories are STILL in the box somewhere in his "junk room". It is sitting in the basement for now until I can really get a good look at it. Also, A sale in my neighborhood today had an RC airplane (gas powered trainer). It had the engine and all servos, the controller, flight box, and some other thing for only $100. If they still have it tomorrow, I might pick it up, I'm border line. If I do buy it, I'll have to test it first.

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Oh, and now for more stories of the past. I also do junkyards, though I haven't had the chance in almost a year!!! But last August, I scored a junkyard FULL OF CLASSIC CARS! PONTIAC VENTURAS, CAMAROS, NOVAS, BEL-AIRES, A DATSUN Z (T-TOP OPTION IN GOLD!), IMPALAS, AND OLD VINTAGE TIN FROM THE EARLY 50S AND 40S! GALAXIES, MUSTANGS, F-SERIES, AND MORE! THEY EVEN HAD A VERY RARE 1967 CORVAIR MONA CONVERTIBLE, ONE OF ONLY 2,000 BUILT! I tried so hard to buy the Corvair.
This is why I gave up on cars....
I gave the guy a call after doing my research and as it turns out, the title is gone. They can issue a new one I found out and called back. They said a guy broke into the office a couple years back and stole some money and car titles. Sadly, the Corvair was one of them. The dude said "Well, ya see, the title wasn't in our name when it was stolen". WHAT THE HECK! Either the guy doesn't want to deal, the paperwork wasn't finished, or, most likely, the car is stolen. I GAVE UP CAR SHOPPING AFTER THIS ONE, WHAT HAPPENS, HAPPENS!
I came back in December to pull some parts off cars before the crusher came back. It came a year prior to me knowing about this place, and from what I've heard, a lot of good old cars bit the dust. A very rare 1960 Dodge Pioneer Wagon was found, with not much left but the rear emblems. I forgot my hammer at the house and so I had to gently pry them off. I was succesful, only breaking one peg on each emblem. I also took the front windsheild trim off, also, those rear reflector housing thingys on the fins, and the remains of the cargo rack on the roof. It was hard as they had piled a '67 Impala Sport Sedan on top of it, the wagon also had a collapsed roof.
Here are the pics of the Wagon in August of 2009. I'm sure it got crushed due to it's unsaveable condition (and I know it came back for a fact. I was told this after I was on the phone trying to schedule another visit which never happened. I was never told what was crushed, I can only assume)

You can see those reflector things on the fins here. I was so gentle, removed hardware best I could and SNAP! I broke BOTH OF THEM! Talk about being ticked off. I was able to salvage the reflectors though.

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
More pics of the vintage cars! I can only dream of someday owning any cars like these. As far as that Corvair getting away is concerned...I don't know. Ever time I think about how close I was....am I mad at myself? The yard? The theif? Maybe I hammer myself? Thats why I gave up on them. Too much stress.

What a GEM in the truck bed...too bad they didn't have the car for it! I wanted to get that so bad...what a flip this part could have been.

I've been busy, but, OK, ya got me. I'll tell ya what I meant. I was referring to the rock theme Pontiac had in the mid-late 80s, the line was "We build excitement!". Since Pontiac is dead, crucified by GM, I used past tense.
I wish I could get the full version of the song, but here is one of those commercials from 22 years ago, in 1988.

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Here we go!
Another find at the same sale where the T-Bird parts came from. I got these for free, and they went to a 1972-1974 Cadillac Eldorado. The sold for about $27.00 last winter, so they didn't sit for long! I still have the Foreigner and REO Speedwaogn records, they are sitting in the stereo and they work.

A tube radio from the same sale, I havent really bothered with it much, I got home to find it was a mess inside, got a local radio repair person may buy it for salvage. I only paid $1.00 for it. Perhaps...

In spring 2009, I bought a box of old vintage GM parts for $5.00. I've sold a good amount of them. This window crank went into a 1969 Camaro:

This switch (NOS?) went into a second gen Firebird:

In 2007, my mom moved into a new house with it, came a few treasures left by the former owner who had passed away. From a vintage World Series ticket stub to this April, 1969 Kelsey-Hayes Brake Controller. The Ticket stub was from 1977 I think and sold in the $30 range.

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
That '69 Camaro window crank handle is identical to what Chevy used on my '67 Bel Air and on a much newer cargo van I dealt with last year. So Chevrolet (and maybe other divisions of GM) used it for several years. I'd be curious to know what all it could have come from. Simple design, no need to keep changing it, more cost effective that way.

I looked up part numbers and the parts ranged from about 1967-1981. The newest being an A/C blower clearly labeled "81 GP". The oldest being that crank handle and a wiper fluid pump from circa 1967.

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
A buyer came by on sat. and bought a chaingaurd off me. Sad, this 1934 Rollfast (company went under in 1970s) bike went from this:

To this:

But hey, I gave it a chance as a project bike, but no takers. Breaks my heart to do that, but I really needed the cash. I bought it whole for $45. I got $145 out of the parts so far. Net income would be $100 as I paid $45 for the bike.

Really a shame nobody wanted to restore it from it's complete status. I love looking at chainguards and tanks on eBay.

I have couple really nice chaingaurds still. One rare one from a Columbia Thunderbolt and a gaurd from an early Sears Spyder.

Somebody came by yesterday and bought the shell for $20! He also bought the shell of a '40 Hawthorne, and Sears Spaceliner project and misc. parts. In all, he spent about $100 on me.

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Neat thread. You've got some killer bikes. I'm always buying and selling antiques as another one of my side hobbies. We hit a lot of estate sales, auctions and just find stuff through contacts and handing out business cards. I collect advertising stuff so anything like signs and store promos gets me jacked up. I've got a link to my photobucket with some of my wife and I's better finds if ya'll are interested in looking at some "junk". :p

Re: A FEW PICS OF MY ANTIQUES AND COLLECTIBLES! Enjoy!
Well guys, thanks for the comments! I found these old pics in my photobucket. I bouth this Firebird car for $1 at an estate sale. Cleaned it up, new batteries, patched the box and sold it for $40-something bucks. I have the records somewhere. Just can't find it now. I was told it was played with on Christmas and a time or two after that and it was stored away. Only flaw was a burned out tail light and a dirty switch.
Pic after it was cleaned up:

Video of it I found on the computer. This is when the car was still filthy inside and out, but I got it working somewhat.

Still have this for sale, I put $10 on it and it still works!

I forgot I found these old tools in a shed. Any idea what the wrench looking thing was used for?

One of my better finds is the this Coca Cola sign I got at an auction in North Dakota for $10. She measures 6' long and 4' high, marked Robertson 1953 on the bottom.

Resale wise, I picked up these '56 Caddy wheelcovers from an auction down here in GA for a whopping $5 - nobody wanted them. Cleaned them up and they sold on eBay for $113. Oh, and in the box was an original owner's manual, accessory booklet and convertible folding top operation guide for a '68 Caddy - which I got another $28 for.

Man, I miss estate sales. I haven't been able to go to many this year, I think only one, and they weren't even prepared and they're asking prices were outragous!
