Re: Gone Fishin' ...
Adam,
1000 Islands rock, such a beautiful fishery up there, my neighbor has a 31" 13 lb Walleye mounted from Wolf's Island, they go late May and say it is absolutely a must. I've only dock fished there and I witnessed some of the days catches come in and there are some spectacular fish. It used to be the #1 Musky Spot in the US back in the 40's & 50's when it was known as 'Playboy's Paradise"!

The 1000 islands are really beautiful, especially when you get out in the middle of nowhere and are just drifting for smallies. My dad and I were also lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a muskie swimming by the boat and the damage that those things can do (on a couple bass we caught we found some nasty looking bite marks).

We have here a better pair of fishermen than I ever will be in this lifetime.
Hats off men! :001_rolleyes:

Re: Gone Fishin' ...
I wouldn't say that Eric, success in fishing is not necessarily based off of how well you did or have done in the past, you are a successful fisherman if you have never caught one fish in your lifetime as long as you have happy memories of family and friends from the times that you went fishing. Just my feelings though.

I wholeheartedly agree.

Re: Gone Fishin' ...
We drift for smallies here at the mouth of the Niagara, with 3 guys in the boat it is not uncommon to nab 20-25 apiece!
We use soft shelled crayfish and live minnows on 3-ways, also tube jigs and worm harnesses will work, but lo and behold be ready for galvanized pike...aka sheepshead as well!!!
Damn gobies too!

Re: Gone Fishin' ...
No gobies in Keuka...yet:(. I have been surprised to find that at least in Keuka smallies will hit top water if tempted correctly. If you don't believe me just ask my beat to snot Rapala Skitter Pop;).

Too funny, I have had the pleasure of pitching more shutouts than Nolan Ryan, just ask the 9 guys in my Salmon/Trout Derby that came up with an entire 0-fer Saturday!!!
The Golden Sombrero...times 3!!!
Most of the time it's persnal solitude and just 'being there."
Colin
zracer...have you fished Otisco and Ostego?

Re: Gone Fishin' ...
No, I have not. Are they good fishing spots? If they are and they have Lake Trout or Walleye my dad and I might have to make a trip over to them.
