"The supreme rule cut in stone and handed directly down to man via the stone tablets containing the 10 Commandments says, 'Though Shalt NotKill". This rule cannot be broken by Christians no matter how craftily the slick forked tongue of man twists and skews the word of God!"

Once again Andy, this tells individuals to not commit murder, BUT the penalty for breaking the commandment was death, normally by stoning. So, don't usethe Bible or Christianity to try and make a point that the Bible itself contradicts!

Which really is what the death penalty is about. It's like weeding out the domesticated mammals that have a tendancyto bite.

I have no problem with that. I'm not a dumb sheep that would allow myself to be led to slaughter (exceptmaybe in one of these threads, or two). I just have a real problem withexecuting people once they have been contained. Did any deterents work for them? No. Lock 'em up. Most others need not be locked up necessarily. Andy, I'm not a religious person, there will be some errors, yes someone will die for no reason as they do everyday, as Chris posted in another thread aman was shot with an arrow and died on the street for no reason and his family is very very very upset. We don't even need guns or the DP for this tohappen......

So if an error is made and someone who is thought to be a bad guy dies and he was not as bad as we though it happens.

In my mind, the death penalty imposed on so few speaks to barbarism. The numbers are so small, the money involved in jailing them for life is minisculecompared to the hundreds of thousands in jail that shouldn't be. 15 years for smoking crack? Justify that! Don't get me wrong, I'm not advocatingor defending the use of crack. With numbers this small, there's no argument as to the cost to taxpayers to house murderers for life! Period!

Using the courts to try and execute offenders is tantamount to nothing more than revenge, vengeance, and that barbaric thing inside some people regardless ofwhat side of the law your on.

Stats: http://www.clarkprosecutor.org/html/death/dpusa.htm

Kitty, you appear to be correct on the minor I was talking about that I thought was executed in Texas.
