I can't find any date on the inner box, there may be something on the paperwork inside, however the set is unopened.

Geeze Larry - Either your memory is getting fuzzy in your old age oryou had some incredible deals in your area !!!

I dug out a 1975 issue of Model Railroader magazine to peruse the ads .... the only brass I could find for $30 was from a few unheard of brass suppliers (weboth know the quality those were) for a four-wheel bobber caboose or a 20,000 gallon tank car for $30. The cheapest engine I saw was a brass saddle-tank fromSoho for $79. Any of the full-size steam like Mikados, Berkshires or Northerns from the more reputable companies like Samhongsa and PFM were minimum $179 andwent up !

A friend of mine locally just picked up a pair of brass C-628 diesels and was thrilled at snagging them for $650 each !!!

Mark.
I can't help here. I have a pretty big collection of Lionel (pre-War and post-War), along with some modern stuff that runs on Lionel track (O gauge) . MTH,etc. Love the stuff! Neat. The Brass stuff is the high dollar without a doubt.
