Money didn't pitch and hit-people did-a whole team's worth. Once you pay them, they have to perform. I don't "buy" whatever that argumentis people seem to have with the Yankees. They haven't won a World Series since 2000. They were best team this year, period! Proved it last night!

^^So Hideki's achievements are invalid because Japanese is his main language? What if he came from England? There's more "world" in thisseries than ever before!

John , that is one of the stupidest comments that I have ever heard. Your profile says Arizona. Assuming that the you like theDiamondbacks and they won the WS and one of their hispanic players (Petit, Romero, Parra, Montero, etc) won the MVP, does that make him less of a MVP becausehe doesn't speak English? Do you think that Diamondback fans would care what language the player spoke? No ,they wouldn't. Hideki has been with theYankees 7 years. He does speak some English but he is a very quiet and modest person. He is a fantastic player that very few people know. And besides, withthe contract that he signed with the Yankees, he was provided with a translator. ANyway, he is an excellent player. Too bad that his knees are bad . Otherwise, he would've had more than 90 rbis. Anyway, whenever a guy wins an MVP for a team, who cares what language they speak or what theirnationality or religion.

Anyway, the best team did win. What made this team special is the way they picked each other up. It really wasn't just 1 player. The entire teamcontributed. The Phillies are a great team but they need pitching. Lee can't pitch everyday and Pedro, well , the Yankees own Pedro.

My son and I are thrilled. He was too young to remember the 2000 World series. We will be celebrating later tonight. That is a bottle of Dom Perignonchampagne that will be uncorked tonight when my other kid gets home from work.

Maribell

A World Series "MVP" that can't speak English.....GO AMERICA !!!!!!

I took this as a compliment to the MVP, USA and baseball.

Whoops.. Compliment? Ok , I see what you mean. I take my comment back. Sorry, too much celebrating last night. Anyway, the rest ofthe country got of glimpe of Mr.Hideki Matsui. He truly is a superstar. Just very few people know about. I'm sure that he will command more $$$ thiswinter on the free agent market because of this world series.

maribell

Did anybody really think they would not win? I know alot of people do not like the yanks. But think about it. Its baseball not the yankees, they just have themoney to spend. If the cardinals had that kind of money i would LOVE IT! The yanks go by all the rules, and even pay more than other teams. Its baseball thatis cousing this problem by not using the CAP. Yes they do have alot of HIGH payed people. But thats all square and by the rules at this point. And the bottomline id the yanks just flat outplayed the phils. If your fav team had the money, and bought all those guys you would like it also. xept maybe the Mets. Theyspend away and still SUCK.

I think that the ONLY MVP on the team was Joe Girardi , seems that on his way home after the game on the parkway he pulled over to help a young woman that hadjust had a car accident. He waited & helped her until the cops got there. Now THAT'S a hero. How many of the players would have drove right by......?Correct! All of them.

yankees play by the rules? lets see 2 key players were caught for juicing

spectraflamed wrote:
yankees play by the rules? lets see 2 key players were caught for juicing

I agree how convenient that the 'roids have all but been forgotten by their fans.. But I would also say that it was ONLY 1 key player caught.......A Rodwill never be a key player in anyone's mind but a Yankee fan. And any record he may ever get will not matter just the sames as Barry Bonds........

The surprise is when they do not win. By spending far and away more than anyone else, the years they lose are failures more than the wins beingaccomplishments.

What a team like the Twins did is far more impressive.
