Re: Getting ready to excercise my 2nd Amendment rights .... suggestions?
When I looked at everything available I ended up with a GLOCK 19. And some hollow points.
I don't want to start a fight but i was talking to my wife last night about this thread and i am so happy i live in a country where there is no need to carry a gun for defense , hell were i live i don't even lock my doors at night
There are many nights when we go to bed without the doors being locked, many times the cars are unlocked, and my wife drives a Benz, I keep my firearms in a huge safe in the garage. There are far more lethal items in my home. I live in a highly populated area and often take walks at night, I carry a walking stick for use against possible animal attack, I am glad that I live where I do where I can still have the liberty to do as I please, if I were to complain at all it would be about the political correctness that is ruining not only my country, but many nations of this world. The values of the country that were evident when I was born have continually been eroded away by the perverts and morally degenerate who have been elected by a populace who have given up the option of self sufficiency for the slavery of a governmental hand out.

Re: Getting ready to excercise my 2nd Amendment rights .... suggestions?
The phrase gained newfound popularity on May 20, 2000, when veteran actor and NRA president Charlton Heston capped a speech at the 129th NRA convention in Charlotte, North Carolina by concluding:
“ For the next six months, [presidential candidate and Vice President of the United States Al Gore] is going to smear you as the enemy. He will slander you as gun-toting, knuckle-dragging, bloodthirsty maniacs who stand in the way of a safer America. Will you remain silent? I will not remain silent. If we are going to stop this, then it is vital to every law-abiding gun owner in America to register to vote and show up at the polls on election day. ”
Near the end of his remarks, Heston paused to pick up a replica of Sharps buffalo rifle and continued:[4]
“ So, as we set out this year to defeat the divisive forces that would take freedom away, I want to say those fighting words for everyone within the sound of my voice to hear and to heed, and especially for you, Mr. Gore: 'From my cold, dead hands!'[5] ”
— Charlton Heston, May 20, 2000

No 'need' here either Al. But I sure value the freedom to choose. A very special lady friend of mine lives in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, a cummunity of @400 people. Last week, their Credit Union was robbed at gunpoint. Turned out to be a local. I told her "how could that be? ... guns are not allowed there". Was a good thing the criminal didn't start shooting. He would have encountered little resistance.

So well stated! Thank you Robert!
By the way, I'm still deciding on what to get .. still leaning towards the 9mm ... but also valuing all of the opinions posted on this topic. Keep 'em coming!
Re: Getting ready to excercise my 2nd Amendment rights .... suggestions?
we can own guns and rifles legally but we have to register them so we do have the right to have firearms and many folks do ,my brother has a least five different rifles and one hand gun but all are used for hunting .
i think the point i was trying to make is where i live i feel so safe and i do not feel the need to arm myself for self defense and i am sure there are many folks in the US that feel the same .
again not trying to start a fight or argument just how i feel .
Re: Getting ready to excercise my 2nd Amendment rights .... suggestions?
My only pistol i ever owned was one of these T/C Contenders in .35 Remington .. rated to kill a moose at 150 yards.. mine didn't have the muzzle brake so the kick was much much more.. 44mag is a joke to this thing..

Re: Getting ready to excercise my 2nd Amendment rights .... suggestions?
Tc contenders were cool I remember those, need a different caliber, drop in a different barrel, single shot though, another option is there is a company that is making "mare's legs" basically cut down winchesters with an enlarged loop, I will post a website when I come home from work later today
