We had one of those in our vegi garden last summer and as others have stated; they do an EXCELLENT job of controlling the bugs. When I first noticed it; the spider was no bigger than a Quarter. By the end of the season, this guy was huge and the Grandsons LOVED to go to our garden to visit it!

Argiope... AKA Common Garden Spider. Totally harmless but to mesquitoes, flies, bees, ect. Looks lie a female. Should be an egg sack on the web close by her. GOOD spider... let her be.
