THE SUBPRIME Mortgages are the primary cause of all of this... Ididn't hear any of the "right" saying "Whoa there, I don't want to be making money off those losers"... No what was head was"I'm a wicked smart investor honey....just look at my portfolio!". It's time to take some responsibility and work together as Americans to fix this mess. Actually, my 401K is in tech stocks. I've been hosed since waaaaaay before this crap hit. LOL In all seriousness, with a straight face for Dig, it all boils down to each person is responsible for their own actions. Nobody forced all these people to takeout mortgages that they knew they couldn't afford....nobody!!! These people did it themselves trying to "keep up with the Jones". For those of usthat didn't go out and get in over our heads, but have been living within our means and saving money, why should we be penalized by having to pay highertaxes now or in the near future? Why? Because you don't think that this over one trillion dollars that Obama is spending right now is gonna grow on trees,do ya? Dig - you make a valid point about a root cause being the sub prime lending...but I go back to this...who made all these people take these loans? Did thebusinesses that offered these loans put a gun to their heads? I don't think so. All worked up??!??! How can a sane person not be worked up about what is happening here? How can us folks who play by the rules not be upset about thegovernment printing up more funny money to give away to try(and I mean try) to reverse the direction of our/your economy? Even if it works (only time willtell, but if left alone Capitalism would prevail eventually, it always has, unless Socialism takes over), who pays for it? Probably not thepeople/corporations who will benefit from it, but us hard working TAX (to death) payers...AGAIN... Nobody should be paying for others' bad behavior and poor choices. Suffer the consequences and start over. The Government bosom is getting larger andlarger, instead of shrinking like it should... Notice how they won't cut the able bodied deadbeats benefits of welfare and other social programs? That would be cruel, yet they will demand more out ofthe workforce in forced tax increases, and for what? Now, where's my Twinkie?????

This thread is going to get shut down unless the tone changes...I can feel it coming... I'm not bashing our POTUS, I just think the stimulus is a BAD idea, one we'll certainly pay for over time. Let me do say, I HOPE IT DOES WORK. I don't want the current administration to fail. I don't. Anyone who wishes that is crazier than me... It's not about the Hatfields and the McCoys, it's about preserving our country, and not swirling down the toilet. This stimulus plan, in my opinion, is doomed. It should fail and put us in dire straights, but I hope it doesn't. Oh, and my wife hates feet. Owning a home is what this country is built on and like drug dealers the UNREGULATED (Dubya wanted it this way) mortgage companies took completeadvantage of this. And let's not forget that this crisis is not just about those that took on debt that could not afford... there are also those that bought their homes onlyto see their homes values sink quicker than a '08 Treasure Hunt and then loose a job or get hours cut etc. It's much more complicated. It's wicked easy to sit in front of the latest iMac with the heat on and a fridge full of beer and food (I put beer first!) and complain about those thatare not "pulling their weight" America is a country built on pulling each other up by our bootstraps... not leaving them to fend forthemselves... I also hope the stimulus plan works but I seriously doubt that it will ... Politicians on both side of the fence are responsible for where we are at ... along with irresponsible individuals who continued to spend beyond their means... and wanting the best house with granite counter tops and all the bells and whistles. I blame HGTV for part of the mess :) The mess actually goes back to the Clinton administration when certain banking rules were changed ... got worse during the Bush years .... After 9-11, no onewanted to bust the bubble on the housing market since that was a major driver of our economy .... The congress (both R's & D's) did nothing to stopthe problem and acknowledge the housing market and banking problems ... under both Republican and then Democratic control. I do feel sorry for individuals who were responsible during this whole mess .... lived within their means .... but have lost their jobs because of the crash... and, their lost job is the only reason they cannot make their payments. I bought a foreclosure mid-last year ... the couple bought the house, new construction, in October 2006 and could not even pay their November & December2006 property taxes .... BUT they could install a multi-thousand dollar home automation system. Geesh. And, we got a house that we normally would not havebought because of the price of the house new. Another house in our neighborhood went into foreclore. The person bought it, paid no money down, did not have a job (other than being a "daytrader") ....

What am I gonna do with my stimulus money? Stash it away, until the depression has ended. Why does this have to be a political debate? This is a financial crisis, not a crisis based on politics. This country has brought the world economics to it's knees. I am sure we cannot spend our way out of the crisis, or that any stimulus government spending will patch it up. Dave, I see you are now drinking the Obama Kool Aid. I am betting your day job is not an economist... Let's see how it plays out. I just noticed that Dave had to edit his post three times...to get the appropriate number of "0"s and "!"s in it, I reckon. LOL. Dave, once again, it boils down to this. We all voted. Therefor, we not only are allowed, but we have the right to complain about how OUR government is doingthings. Look at the latest polls, and you'll see that though President Obama has a favorable rating for his first month, his stimulus plan does not. If youwould put down your Cap Locks and the number "1" key, you would notice that people are not bashing President Obama, they're bashing the stimulusplan, because even people who have just taken Economics in high school know that this is not how to get out of a recession. If you want proof on what I've just said, go study how America got out of the Great Depression. As has been stated by just about everyone in this thread, I want President Obama to succeed, because that means good for our country. But he's getting offon the wrong foot, as evidenced by the list a few posts up. Those, my friend, are under his one month of leadership. As for your continuance of what are wedoing about it, besides whining and complaining, well, the first step is education and I would guess that eveyone here on this thread is learning a littlesomething. Instead of bashing everyone over the head with your "Whoos", etc. why not try to post why you think the stimulus plan is good. WRONG (caps) Mike!!!! I edited it FOUR TIMES!!!! Uhhhhhh............ I think you better go back and reread these posts my man, there are alooooooooooooooottttttttt of Obama bashing comments!!! Again...... Go back and reread why I think the stimulus plan is good. When I posed the question of whatwould you do instead of bashing the plan, one answer was address the infrastructure... Roads, bridges, water etc..... That is a HUGE part of it. Although I don't live there, Missouri I believe was the first one to immediately cash in and start with the process. LOTS of excitement over there with alot of road projects and bridge repairs getting started, that has been a news leader for the past few days, that and the thousands of jobs it will create...Hummmmm...stimulus??? Same with Illinois, the roads and bridges are horrid here and the same type of excitement is being generated over the prospect and thethousands of jobs it will create and the big influx of money from those jobs being pumped back into the state's economy. As for getting off the wrong foot?? Naaaa........ Something had to be done Mike and I'm pretty sure a LOT of consulting was done with a whole lot of folkswho have a little more experience with economics than at a high school level! As for the non-stop complaining......What has it solved, whose mind has beenchanged and whom do you complain to besides folks on RLOL?? As I said a LOT of "economic experts and world leaders" on here, so I'm sure all ofthese discussions have changed the President's mind!!!! Lemme go check CNN...... Hmmmmmm.... Nope, Obama is still in charge and the Stimulus plan hasn't been revoked and is still on the mark and no mention ofthe "alternate plan" being proposed by the experts on RLOL!!! No he jumped in head first and besides the bridges and the raodwork, that is about allof the stimulus. The rest is just throwing money away.
