If your qualified with the hair, then what difference does it make to them if you have it or you don't. I would think that in your field, inovation,ingenuity and skill are the order of the day, and from what I understand...you have them. Tell them the hair is part of your creative control, and if theydon't like it, then too bad.<br><br>Ed

Forget about the image/professionalism/potentialclient opinion/whatever debate. Let's just look at numbers. I have no idea what an architect of Greg's experience makes, either here or in LA. Let's just pick a number that I'm relatively sure would be the very least - and I'm probably quite low - but let's say $50,000 a year. Now,Greg is being offered a position where he will likely double that - $100,000. That's an extra $1000 a week. Do you realize how much of a difference thatwould make in not just current lifestyle but also future security (assuming one uses a portion of the difference to invest)? And that's just based on abare-bones number of $50,000! Wow..... once again, everyone, I have really appreciated your comments, and taken all to heart. Several have yuku'd me separately and had some reallyprofound things to say, too. I'm deeply touched, and humbled, knowing that y'all care about me that much, and have that much faith in my talent, andare in my corner!<br><br>Update: the interview was postponed to next week sometime, probably Wednesday; I'll be interviewing with the guy I used to work with and a VP, sothey're waiting to see when the veep is available.<br><br>So my current plan is to cut the hair on Saturday.... and believe me, I have also seriously considered the words of many here who feel I should keep the hair.More than anything, I feel it's time for a change, and to stop holding on to any particular image of myself.<br><br>So again - thank you, thank you, thank you! Well, you're going to look funny for a few days, man. The mirror will not be your friend and you might be a little self-conscious. That's becauseyou're used to seeing the same look for a long time. A long time.<br>Change is a good thing and you did this for a reason; not some drunken boast. Focus on the task at hand. Before you know it - and once, maybe, you stopthinking about it - you'll recognize that chap in the mirror as the very same fellow who was there last week. The very same. In every way.

Greg, when I cut my hair a few months ago, I was in the "just get it over with and move on" phase. But when my daughter and I were in the chairs, alady walked up to my wife who was taking pictures of Melissa. She commented about Melissa getting all that long hair cut off, so my wife filled her in on whatwas going on. That included that Melissa's papa was in the chair next to her doing the same thing. The lady was overwhelmed, and said that she'd been acancer patient a few years ago. She said that she would NOT have left the house if it hadn't been for a wig from donated hair. She came back and thankedMelissa and me profusely. My "just get it over with" attitude quickly disappeared and I realized the order of magnitude of what we were doing.<br><br>"You done good." as my dad likes to say. Greg,<br>My hair hasn't brought me luck, fortune or fame. I grew up (debateable) in the 80's and fought with my parents every three months over getting ahaircut. I love it long. It's repulsive, ugly, rude, scary and disrepectful to most people. As you may know from an earlier thread. I cut my hair because afriend at work has cancer and his hair started falling out. I wanted to devert the attention away from him or at least let him know that it wasn't all thatbad having less or in this case no hair.<br>Your cause has great merrit in either way you look at it. More money and a better life? Usually the hard part is the interview itself. Being that the haircut has been a pretty tough road, I think you already have the hard part behind you. You're severely depressed? Really?<br><br>Greg, I think it was Steve that said so eloquently, "It's just friggin' hair!". Seriously, lose your hearing (take it from me), lose youreyesight, lose a limb, lose your wife, significant other or kids - then be depressed. Worse case scenario for you is that you truly helped someone that reallyneeded it and it will take some time to grow it back. Period. End of story. <br><br>Depression never helps (take it from me again). It's not pretty and only serves to alienate you from those that you really care about - and who, I mightadd, you really need at this point in time. Okay, evabody... I went for the interview today! I brought a TON of work to show 'em, and looked very dapper in my tie, navy blue blazer and snazzyhaircut. I was actually pretty relaxed, and it seemed to go very well... they said they have been lacking someone with my kind of experience, and were veryimpressed with the breadth of work I showed them... My friend that I used to work with told me that I was pretty much a shoe-in, but they have to go throughthe corporate motions.<br><br>And at this point, I'm okay with it whether they hire me or not! I just feel pretty good about myself for having gone...<br><br>And I have to thank all of you again for all the INCREDIBLE words of wisdom; each and every one was deeply appreciated, and really helped to get me there.Y'all are the best! And I'll let you know when I hear something...

Ok so you cut your hair, What did you do with it? Did you donate it? If not please do not give it to Locks of Love, but instead give it to Wigs for Kids. Wigsfor Kids gives the wigs away for Free, and Locks of Love charges the people for them. I know all of this because I just cut my hair. Donated 12 inches to Wigsfor Kids. This is also my forth donation of 12 inches of hair in 6 years. It Will Grow back, and Damn its a lot easer to take care of. It will grow back,really. Paul
