i dont see how you can say (27) Titles is a failure?? Thats more than the next 3 teams combined. And the Cardinals have 10 of those. What does make me chuckleis when the yanks say its been a long time since we won. LOL How does that make Cubs fans feel.

imho the money arguement is invalid because it is MLB to blame not the yankees that the amount spent is so unbalanced. HOWEVER it seems the Yanks have had morethan thier fair share of juicers both present and past and that is CHEATING

Ya know it seems to me that everyone thinks that the Yankees bought a world series. I find this amazing. Do you know that the Yankees LOST 50 MILLION and thatis before being penalized for going over the CAP, just like Basketball. Most of the teams your bringing up like the Twins made 40 million and is owned by aBILLIONAIRE. The Stienbrenners are not BILLIONAIRES and are willing to lose money ( of course that is before YES money) to put a winning team out there. Mostof your other teams would have more money if their fans supported them. Look at the Rays last year, they go to the WS and their attendance is up 2% and theycant afford to keep their players. Yankee fans support their team and they try to get their fans a winning team. Anyone remember the Blue Jays winning in theearly 90s? They had the highest payroll those years so I guess they bought a WS too.

Spectreflame are you going to take the Red Sox World Series wins away as cheaters too? Their 2 biggest players were Juicing? Also why when it is a Yankee whois accussed its front page new and when Manny gets caught this year and Big Papis name is in there too then it barley makes a blip? Because people hate a teamthat wins and plays by the cap rules.

Hey if you dont like the Yankees that is fine but cant you go and complain in another thread?
-
yup the BoSox wins were BS also and the Dodgers pennent this year with Manny missing 50 games for juice is bogus also. Hate all juicers not just yankee juicersbut it seems the yanks have had a lot through the years. Heck go old school and all those A's wins were crap also.

Like it or not, the Yankees won. You Met fans, go rent some dvds and stay home because the Yankee logos and shirts, hats are everywhereincluding the local supermarkets. A-Rod's juicing was in the past. Petitte... He did some substance to help recover from an injury when he was on thedisabled list. He confessed and apologized. If you ever heard Andy Pettite talking, you would immediately love. He is a nice, southern, christian man. Anyway, people get on A-rod more than Manny and Ortiz. Clemens.. That one truly disappointed me.. but remember , he was on the Red Sox and the Blue Jaysbefore he got to the Yankees... I don't hear anyone badmouthing either of those 2 teams.

I never said that everyone does it. I said that I am sure that every single baseball team has had a juicer one time or another. In fact, I bet that there hasbeen at least 1 player in each team in other sports. The guys get caught, they pay the penalty(fine, suspension, whatever) and then you move on. If youlike the team, you support the player(s) and hope that they don't repeat it.

Personally , I don't care if A-Rod breaks the home run record or not. Sure the record is tainted. I just want him to deliver w/ men on base and help win agame.

Anyway, the post has gone a bit haywire. Maybe someone should start on new one and we can gab over there.

Cub fans....What is 60 years.. 70 years? I forgot. Well , you have new ownership. Maybe they can straighten out that team. It only comes natural for me to hate ALL NY teams, so don't anyone be offended. As for juicing, I'd say anywhere from 40-50% of ALLprofessional athletes are on some form of enhancing drugs.....some are just better at their masking or knowing when testing is scheduled. Most folks hate theyanks because of the way they buy free agents when most, not all, teams can't compete with their offers. Let's face it......they have more $$$ to lureplayers their way & what player especially in this generation, wouldn't go for the higher offer? If baseball had a cap & the yanks won, youprobably wouldn't hear as much negativity launched their way except from us New England folks who will always hate them either way. I congratulated themearlier in this thread because they were the best team this season, regardless of their payroll. That still dosen't mean that I don't despise them.

Congrats Yankees !!!!

Everybody talks about people juicing, but lets be honest the biggest supposed cheater Barry Bonds, has NEVER been convicted of ANYTHING, the whole league wastested , with the results being secret, over 100 players tested positive of something, i doubt it was all steriod related. so with that someone leaks a name of2 every once in awhile, which is illegal and if that person is caught will go to jail, bud selig is the worst commissioner of baseball in recent history. Letsnot forget the team who makes the most spends the most, 200 mil payroll, big deal, revenue sharing means the yankees give the pirates 30 mill, royals 25 mill, the list goes on, every high payroll team pay these cellar dwellars, those owners just pocket the money instead of building a better team. its the same oldstory about the payroll, kinda funny...its smart business.

We all know they did A Clod even admitted (after lying repeatedly) that hiscousin shot him up with an "unknown" drug. WHAT? would you, me OR anyone for that matter let anyone put anything in your body that you didn'tknow what it was? Especially A Clod & his ego, I think doubt it. The fact is they did steroids & probably still do. You want these guys for roll modelsfor kids?? Just look at the TV viewing numbers in recent years, they continue to drop for baseball. This one of the reasons.........

Pete , your Mets had tons of players that used steroids and other illegal substances.. Did you forget about these guys. I bet that yourooted for them. Here are just a few...... Mo Vaughn, David Segui, Scott Schoenweiss, Todd Pratt, Chris Donnells, Hundley, Matt Franco, Paul Lo Duca, MikeCameron, Josias Manzanillos... Heck, I'm tired of copying names from the internet. There were many others. If they got caught and did theirpunishment, paid their fine, then let them be. If they are playing , I'm sure that they are being tested more frequently than someone that's neverbeen caught.

Not to mention the Met crackheads...... Gooden and Strawberry. They even admitted using while playing in 1986! By the time the Yankees got these two, theyhad cleaned up their act. These two did their time (suspension, jail time, fine...) Then they deserved another chance.

If there was no penalty back then , then you can't penalize the player in 2009. A-Rod always gets the most negative press. Manny Ramirez is sometimesroasted in the press but I've never seen David Ortiz being roasted by the press.

You can't focus on A-Rod in such a negative way. He had an outstanding year and he missed the first 6 weeks due to hip surgery. Pete, you should prayeverynight that at least 1 Met player produces similar results in 2010 playing a whole year.

As for role models, I wouldn't want my kid to use any athlete or movie star or singer as a role model.
maribell

Maribell,
I am a Met fan but root for NO team as avid as you seem to for the Yankees, it's just a sport.
All athletes that use steriods are losers in my book.
I just don't know why you are so pro A Rod? Is he a relative? Really, Maribell he's just an over paid drug inhanced man playing a kids sport.
-
I wish. Not a relative. I don't like the way the media / people are so against him and Manny and Ortiz are totally ignored and get a pass. I guess causehis salary is much higher. I hear lots of negative stuff on A-Rod from diehard Mets fan . I find that ironic with all of the players that the Mets had thatused stuff. That's my beef. If you're going to rag on the man, then do it equally to all of the other players that used illegal stuff.

I was disappointed when the news came out but I am not going to hate the man if he plays on my team. I am pro- any player that is on the Yankees as long as hegives 100% and hustles and can plays the game correctly while on the team. Now once they forget to step on third base or start catching balls with one hand, I am not going to like that player. I can't hate a Yankee player for something that they did in the past. Again, if the player paid the penalty and theleague allows them to play , then they should be allowed to play in peace. And yes, this includes Manny and Ortiz.

maribell

I've never seen David Ortiz being roasted by the press.
Maribell you're not in New England to read the papers & hear the sports talk radio shows asOrtiz was and still is, widely criticized for his steroid use & rightly so. The national media may have backed down on him but not so in the Bostonmedia.

It's a shame that in his brillent career he'll be most remembered for thatone play. The Boston media may not be as critical as NY's but it's very close & if a player isn't giving 100% they're fair game.

I think people are forgetting that Manny was run out of Boston. (not that he was innocent)

I think people are forgetting that Manny was run out of Boston. (not that he was innocent)
100% accurate there. You just can't get away with shoving a secretary down, smacking a teammate, & bad mouthing ownership withoutgetting shipped out no matter who you think you are. Manny was a great hitter & that's where it ends. He became a virus that got out of control inhis last year in beantown. Claims he didn't get respect which is total B.S. as he got away with so much which management took until they woke up. He'sLA's problem now and it looks like the true Manny's starting to come out there as well.
