Seems like it eh? Nice enough chap, it was nice meeting him at the Convention last year!
This thread has me really missing fishing...where I grew up I was walking distance to the where the Sacramento River originates and would go almost every day after school...just a kid with his pole, gear, and his creole...mom would come pick me up at dark. I love catching trout, but hate the taste of it, so my caught fish would end up in our freezer, or someone else's!
You guys who i met were all really pretty nice to me, scott jeff was right that was some good pizza.
Sweet! Unfortunately, I only have a couple pics and I don't even know where they are. Most all my memories are in my mind/heart.
I was the guy, though played all sports and was well liked in school, would go fishing right after it was out. It was my "escape". About 6 miles from my home in Story City, Iowa was a nice rock quary. Really big bass (for the area) and super sized Crappie. Me and my Dad would take the little two man bass boat and fish this 10 acre quary. The best fishing was in early spring...there were a few downed trees in the place and we would normally pull 12-17" crappie from it consistatly...with some smaller in between. Anyway, we caught all kinds there...walleye, northern pike. Anyway...we were fishing the north eastern cove one time and I had on a MONSTER crappie...it came off right before we got it in the boat...but dad says it would have taken the state record. He thought it was in the 22" range. Anyway....we'll just never know... Loved to fish for bass on top water there....they loved the Zara Spook.
I built my house here in central Iowa... we have a 4 acre pond about 1 mile from here we can fish anytime. Lots of bass and crappie... Then the other 3 acre pond is on my shops grounds, so at lunch time when I need a brake, I take the mini bike down to the pond to snag into some nice blugill and bass. Supposed to have catfish in it...we stocked it about 5 years ago....but most of them must have went out the drain tube when we had floods a couple years ago.
Lots of times I'll take the RC sailboat down there and cast a bobber and sail the boat.... most of the time I have to take the helm of the fishing pole, as they are usually very active!
Fun stuff....its one of my favorite hobbies. Me and my boys have caught many fish together....and have some great memories..
(I had on a MONSTER crappie)
One of the city lakes here where i live (Lake Lucas) holds the N.C. state record since 1983 for a white crappie that was right under 6 pounds..
Great story hotwheelscrazz.Waddya say Robert.
Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life.

Thats about the size of a garbage can lid ! :) Thats what my Dad remembers of the one I had on. :) I'm glad that we have some good ponds in this area. The old Quary where I used to fish is now closed down...they sectioned it off into 3 private properties....and nobody lets people fish it. It's like loosing an old love all over again when I think about it. Oh well...the fishing out of these other ponds are good....just not 17" crappie and 7 LB bass. more like 10-12' crappie and 5 1/2 to 6 lb bass. Bluegill are bigger though in these ponds then they ever were in that quary... I don't understand, but we never caught any big bluegill in there.
I keep my gear at the shop were I work... darn mice got to my $500 shimano reel...ticked me off...ate the plastic on the handle... :( I couldn't believe it....must have smelled the fishy goop on it and went for it. Darn things...sometimes I think and invasion army of those things are gonna take me away... They just keep coming...no matter what I do. I was thinking about going into the mouse fur coat business :) LOL Plenty of hides it seems!
Mouse fur coat, might catch on, matching boots for the ladies
I was so excited with my first fish catch.I whipped up on the pole, hit myself in the face with it and gave me a bloody nose.Kids.

Ok lure update, for batch 1 there are 18 lure one needs reprofiling one i threw away, today i painted scales. When i paint these lures i may start with a plan, but sometimes they take on a life of theirvown. There are some baby bass in this batch even a tan baby bass (new to me) bunch of crawdad colors, some tropical frogs (including poison arrow frogs), and another one thats brand new to me, that i am calling bluegill. Next batch should have a pasal of bluegill in it because it's real pretty. The next step is to do detail work like paint eyes, etc. This is fun fpr me so i just wanted to give a heads up
Cool Beans, I cant wait to see the finished product!!!:w00t: as I look out the window and see a lake with 3' of ice on it.......cmon springtime!!!!
Would a spearing decoy be better?

Lure update thanks everyone for being patient, the eye color has been painted today, by hand, this is a pain as i am getting older shoot! Tomorrow i have to take my daughter to dance class so friday night i plan on painting the pupals and whatever other details, if that happens, saturday morning will see me spraying several coats of marine varnish, then they get to dry, once that happens hooks get installed and they get shipped
Just got a reply for 1st "Annual" trip for my bro/cousin and our 3 ten year old boys...shamed them into it as I told them it's time to drop the iTouch's and hit the Finger lakes this year...looks to be late May early June, just might start the countdown as this 15-19 degree weather is sucking the lifeforce outta me...

Finger Lakes in NY state Super C ... ?
I know them well.
Eric
Yes, I've stayed at Owasco every summer since '83 as my roomie from college has a place there. Never fished it seriously though, and we will hit Cayuga Lake on day 2!
Mostly it's to get the boys out for the experience, landing some browns/bows/and hopefully some sizable 'eyes and lakers.
C
I'm just plain "C" here, Super C over dere!
You Super C wherever you go

Adam
Nice pictures, adam which one is you?
I am the one who is holding the pike (spent all day chasing one of those) and the one in the first picture who looks like he is trying to find a lost penny in the bass's mouth LOL.
Well coins have been found in fishes mouths before
Looks like colin has some compitition from adam
