Re: Time for me to leave this country. Oh Canada here I come!!
Jeff, I realize this is still the greatest country in the world just very discouraged at the direction we have and are headed. I'm over it and you are correct I'm not a runner. I'm just telling myself that if there are not drastic improvements in these next 4 years the democrats will get tossed even with the imbalance. This gives me hope. GOP still has the house so hope and change will have to compromise as much as it kills him. Better not blame it on Bush anymore.
Gary...people been complaining about who is in office since way before I was a kid. Don't let those frickin whiners get in the way of you living you life to the fullest. There are so many ways to have a full life and to enjoy this country it makes my heads spin. Things will never be perfect as far as the gov't is concerned and who serves there so make the best of it and tighten your belt and allow yourself to think big and successfully. Be positive and good things happen in the life.
This country is the best country ever as long as we don't snivel and whine about the little crap. Having this president have 4 more years doesn't bother me one bit. He doesn't pay my bills nor feed my family as I have always worked for my wages. I don't expect anything from the gov't and I pay my taxes and live my life the way I want to. I am loaded fror bear 24/7 with more ammo than I can count.
I expect nothing from anybody in the senate or the house of reps. They are all self center egotists and that's where I lose them. I can do nothing about it so let them be what they are. I DON'T CARE ABOUT THEM!!!
Hang in there buddy unless you like freezing cold...snow and saying "eh" after every other word...lol
PEACE...

Thanks Jeff, lots of wisdom in what you said. Thanks for picking me up!!

Re: Time for me to leave this country. Oh Canada here I come!!
I know THIS is a likely waste of time,...but I'll answer your questions.
Ozone: There was a HUGE problem with the ozone layer at the poles and extending into the sub-arctic regions. They discovered (not by asking God) that CFCs (chloroflourocarbons, lighter than air) floated up and mixed with ozone, thereby destroying it and allowing harmfull rays into the atmoshere and onto the flora and fauna beneath. Are ya with me so far...? Good!
Where was the source of CFCs...in spray cans. So all the countries of the world decided to cut out the use of CFCs in spray cans. That was about 20 years ago or more. Since that time,...the hole in the ozone layer has slowly repaired itself and has filled back in to a large degree.
Acid Rain: Yep,...big problemo there too. Just ask the maple syrup producers in the northeast US and eastern Canada, particularly in Quebec. Ask anyone who depends on the forests for a living...
They'll all tell ya that their trees are all sick, and the treetops are leafless...
Sooooooooo,...again, science, not God, looked into what could be causing the problem... They discovered a sulphuric acidy fallout was causing this. Where was that coming from?...
Dirty unregulated factory emissions... both from the US and Canada... If nothing was done,...there'd be no forests left in time... There'd be nowhere for Ted Nugent to go hunting anymore...
or any maple syrup to put on his pancakes...
So once again the big bad government had to step in and try to fix things... the big corporate magnates certainly weren't about to... Gee, that would cut into profits...
You have to ask yourself...what the hell good are profits when there's no planet left...?
These big corporate types run off to their beautiful spreads way out in the country and away from all the pollution after work and on weekends leaving all the worker mooks behind in the dirty cities in the pollution. Do you really think they give a crap about you? Nope!
You have to take care of the place and clean up or prevent the mess.
If you get your information from the very type of dogmatic speaking idiots like those senators who say $h!t like "Women don't get pregnant from,...get this....Legitimate Rape..." YOU my friend,...and all of us are in BIG trouble...
And so you have a Bible...I'll enlighten you here too... The word 'Dominion' is used in there... Most take that to mean 'Dominate'... Well,...they'd be wrong too.
The use of the word dominion in the Bible means to take CARE of the planet. NOT to suck the juices out of it and leave it in ruin...
Just ask any farmer about taking care of their land and livestock. If they destroyed their land, and raised sickly uncared for animals...they be outta business AWFULLY quick. You needn't look any further than those ugly people who run puppy mills... If it were left up to THOSE types to run the planet and the farms..... Need I say more...?
There's no doubt in my mind that you have morals. You don't come across like a rapist, bank robber, kiddy diddler, wife beater or the like,...but you do come across as being a wee bit uninformed for whatever reason...
Maybe it's lucky that Romney didn't get in,...because he'd have killed Big Bird, and PBS along with him...THEN where would folks get at least a LITTLE bit of information unhindered by 'Corporate World'...
You could liken the corporations to Zigfried and Chaos as seen in Get Smart...
In order to maximize profits, and dodge government regulation,...they stuck their thumbs in the eyes of Americans, and Canadians too,...and moved off shore. WHICH as you know, is one of the MAJOR problems with the US, and to a degree, the Canadian economies...
Don't mean to ramble on so much,...but you asked... Running off to the hardware store to stock up on ammo and guns isn't the answer unfortunately...
Why do I care so much...? I'm not sure,...I have NO kids to leave behind in this crap... I had the foresight when I was young to know better, and NOT try to keep up with the Jones', and all the other 'Lemmings', and could really care less... Except for caring about those who DO give a $hit, ..and all the critters of the planet who really DON'T have it coming for the sake of human greed and ignorance...
Hope that answers your questions... :D
By the way,...you could move on up to Alberta and get a nice spread by the tarsands and pump the water out of the watershed,...drink it for a while. Don't worry,...YOU won't get cancer...
My uncle Noel was a petrochemical engineer for Suncor there. Even HE used to tell us what was on the horizon in an unregulated industry such as that...
Remember the ozone problem and acid rain? What happened to those ideas? If you ask me it's a bunch of crap and only God is in control of mother nature. Alberta might be the place for me though.
He and the rest of his ilk can't blame Bush anymore for the last 4 years............
And most important? He can't run for re-election again in 2016! :-)

Oh I'll bring it on Professor Kenny....
Grande Prairie isn't in the watershed flowing away from that toxic slough. AND I guess the exploding cancer rates in the folks who DO live in that watershed and subsist from the land around there is just one of those 'Fairy Stories' too....eh?
What do you care as long as you can stuff your shelves with tiny little shiny trinkets toy cars to occupy your small mind in them long warming Alberta winters...

Re: Time for me to leave this country. Oh Canada here I come!!
One more thing,...about your Alberta cash. You seem not to know that the east in fact subsidized the west for decades before Jed Clampett shot at a rabbit in Leduc one day and up from the ground came a bubblin' crude...
Ontario's manufacturing base went down the toilet along with that of the US's when THEIR economy crashed. So maybe you should take THAT into consideration...WE were handing out cash for decade upon decade subsidizing other provinces...
Put THAT in your test tube...

Re: Time for me to leave this country. Oh Canada here I come!!
Y'all can come to Australia on three conditions:
1. No guns. Seriously.
2. Religion - don't ask, don't tell. We don't really care for it.
3. No use of the word "Y'all" :D
Positives :
1. (Practically) Everyone speaks English. No Spanish, French, or any other jibber-jabber. No bi-lingual signs either.
2. High standard of living.
3. Real American-style cars (where do you think the Camaro was developed ?).
4. No huge trucks.
Negatives :
1. High taxes and high retail prices. Cars are the worst.
2. No huge trucks.
3. No Red Lobster

Re: Time for me to leave this country. Oh Canada here I come!!
Come on guys we are all adults here correct? A wise man once said "Never make a long term decision, based on a short term emotion." I understand funny bantering but getting outright mad at each other is foolish.
Like I said previously just open your eyes and look at the big picture. Do you think it really matters who is in office? The two candidates raised and spent almost 2 BILLION dollars for their election campaigns. Who the heck do you think is giving up that kind of money?? BIG BUSINESS!! The same people that would influence the opinions and policy of whatever candidate won. Do you actually think any of them have an original thought?
Hell someone could probably give Jessie The Body Ventura a Billion dollars to get him into office. As soon as he was there I bet he would vote against hemp farming, fake wrestling and everything he fundamentally agreed upon while governor. All because the people that got him into office now controlled him 100%.

""Puerto Rico has to be a state. There is no other option," said 25-year-old Jerome Lefebre, who picked up his grandfather before driving to the polls. "We're doing OK, but we could do better. We would receive more benefits, a lot more financial help."

Re: Time for me to leave this country. Oh Canada here I come!!
I wonder what currency they'd use...
Would they retain the U.S. dollar...?
Would they revert to the French franc, or maybe beaver pelts, which they used in Nova Scotia 200 years ago when the British ethnically cleansed the Acadians out of there as being 'undesireables'...?
...or,....would they hook up with their French bretheren in Quebec when THEY separate from Canada, and use the Canadian dollar,...which the Quebecers intend to do when they leave Confederation...? :w00t:

Re: Time for me to leave this country. Oh Canada here I come!!
Personally my life hasn't taken any drastic changes in the last 4 years as opposed to the previous 48 years. I tend to ignore the government as much as possible. Honestly it is hard for me to fathom why anyone would want to leave the US based on a 4/8 year presidential term. I guess alot of people have had a dramatically different experience than me.

Re: Time for me to leave this country. Oh Canada here I come!!
Texas...when I lived there my boss's dad was THEE Director of Board of Education and forever fought to get Federal funding for the schools and programs...no dice. TX does not ever want to be dependent on the Fed...for anything. I went to my first gun/military show at the Dallas Convention Center around 1996, my father a military enthusiast came down fom Wisconsin. He had lived in TX back in the early 60's in as much as I was born there. Anyhow, it took us 2 full days to go thru 900, yes 900+ 4x8 convention tables of every piece of armament know to man...rocket launchers to Tommy Guns...50 cals...hand grenades...even a working Gatling Gun...as we walked out after day 2 my dad said to me..."Well if it ever comes down to a state leaving the country, I'll bet it's Texas first..."
I had never met so many gun owners and 2nd amendment types in my life...I even had a rep working for me who carried his .44 to work, at a brokerage firm, and insisted he had the right to with his concealed permit!
Anyhow, here in WNY pretty much the same, plenty of 'closet' gun and ammo hoarders, getting ready for the big event!!!
...Anyhow, here in WNY pretty much the same, plenty of 'closet' gun and ammo hoarders, getting ready for the big event!!!...
There's something rather unsettling about that statement...BUT,...there IS a bright side to THAT situation...being...
Now we all know these gun 'enthusiasts' (like Hell's Angels and Bandidos are 'just' fun lovin' motorcycle enthusiasts)..are you garden variety law abiding citizens,...so there's no worry that when the 'Big Event' happens,...they're not gonna go around shootin' unarmed harmless folks,....just other folks armed with weapons... THAT being,...the problem will solve itself when all the so called 'enthusiasts' shoot each other up right down to the last one standing...
All the gun nuts will be gone...and life can then go on....in peace...
YOU CAN OWN A ROCKET LAUNCHER in Texas???:w00t:..... Now THAT's MY kinda play toy... You can take out a whole CROWD of gun nuts in ONE SHOT!!!! :D
