Lest we forget...3 college students (I've forgotten the name of the college or university) at a frat party where supposedly a black woman was raped bythese guys. Immediately, Sharpton and Jackson show up in the black girl's defense, (and screaming that these college students should be in prison-saying itway before the case ever went to trial) and these college students were put through a very strenuous and hurtful trial. In the end, the black girl admittedshe lied. But these 3 students now have a tarnished record for the rest of their lives...and they were completely innocent-as ruled by the judge and jury. DidSharpton or Jackson ever apologize. NO!

I think they are both hateful racists, hiding behind a 'Reverend' title. Their whole game is playing the race card.

Allan
I don't even know where to begin in response, and don't have time to write a dissertation... but it's very sad to see the thinly disguised racistsentiment that is being articulated here...

Greg,
I don't see any racism except the racism propagated by Jackson and Sharpton. They strive and live for it it seems to me, and seems others feel that waytoo. If Jackson and Sharpton didn't exist, would things be better or worse racially? I think I know the answer, but I'm curious what others think. Those two guys love the limelight, and are quick to jump at any opportunity, whether valid or not! What good is that?
I've been here just a short while, so apologies if I'm stepping over the line, but is it ever possible for you to simply say "I disagree?"Must you always cloak your point of view in self-righteous indignation?
-
Oops, I meant to follow post #21.
-
You're right, cocky; and calling out racism is putting self-righteous indignation to good use.
-
That's cool. It just occurs to me that "I'll be along later when I have more time to set you racists straight" doesn't strike me as aparticularly conducive method to get someone to respect your point of view. Of course, I may be assuming incorrectly that your aim is do just that.

As far as Al Sharpton is concerned, I don't know what I'd say about him since I'd expect that most would agree that he's a knucklehead.Pointing it out just seems to me to be as necessary as saying 'hey, anybody notice the sky is blue?'
-
I have no interest in "setting anyone straight"; but I will always be shocked at racism, and will always say so when I see it. If that'sself-righteous indignation, then so be it.

Okay. Hmmm, since the title of the thread is 'education' perhaps I can also gain the insight and ability to read the hearts of posters based upon a fewoffhand message board musings.

I don't get the comparison, other than calling elected officials and preachers self serving hypocrites.
Al Sharpton stirs up racial controversy. I thought thats what we were discussing. What you stated are whole different subjects that can't be discussed on this forum.
Still waiting for the names of the white racists who stir up controversy and show up at any white disaster or hate crime against whites...Where are they?

Dude I live right in the middle of this and have for the whole Sharpton thing. He is an ass but alot of what he says about racism is true. How many times haveyou heard of a white guy getting shot 40+ times? He is in it to make money but he does have facts to back him up. Show me where white people get harassed likeminorities do? These other guys do the same thing but in a different way. Also I hear alot more white people using racial language when talking aboutminorities than I do here Black and Spanish using language against white people. I have worked in Harlem and NYC for more than 15 years and in NY my wholelife. I have heard and read about Sharpton since Tawana Brawley and have thouhgt he is self centered and horrible but he does bring up some good points aboutracism. Also show me all of these white hate crimes your talking about? I can list a dozen or more Black and other minority hate crimes.
