Best team money can buy!!

100% factual...

$208,000,000.00+ payroll for the yanks against the Phillies at $111,000,000.00

Do the math...
The steroids were in the past. Also , A-Rod wasn't the only one caught. There were more than 100 names on that list. Not fair , that just 2 names wereleaked.

I'm sure that every single baseball team has had at least 1 player caught w/ steriods or growth hormones etc. In fact, this is probably true in othersports too. Pete, you Met fans are such sore losers. Steroids/illegal growth hormones, etc,you guys have had more players suspended in the past few years forillegal stuff than the Yankees. True, most of them were no-name players. Had the Mets not been so cheap, A-Rod would've signed up with you guys. Hegrew up in Queens, a freakin' Mets fan and that was the team that he wanted to sign with originally, not the Yankees.
You Met fans are such sore losers. Anyway, enjoy your trip to the mall , supermarkets, BOBS, Kohls, Modells. The Yankees WS merchandise is everywhere.

The Yankees won because they played the best. They put more pressure on their opponents than their opponents did on them. When the opponents made a mistake, the Yankees capitalized. This was seen throughout the years and in all 3 rounds of the post season.

The Yankee players are well trained. They hustle. They play good defense. They know how to step on 3rd base on their way home. They catch fly balls w/ 2hands. They don't admire their homeruns and then trot to 2nd base when they realize that the ball isn't a homerun. The coaching staff is great. Themedical staff is great. The medical staff can actually read an MRI and can tell the difference between a torn hamstring and scar tissue. They run out groundballs and fly balls. Their manager is not a moron who cracks jokes after a loss. Their general manager can make a decent trade when the manager needs aplayer. Anyway Pete, until your Mets do these things , the only World Series that they will see in the fall is when they turn on the TV. It will be yearsbefore your team plays in a World Series. Remember, your Mets still have to go through Philadelphia and Atlanta inorder to reach the post season. Believeme, this journey will take years.

maribell

One of many reasons I'm not a big sports fan.
At least, not professional sports.

Think about the American League "Desginated Hitter" position;
you have ONE job, offense - hit the ball, put it in play, get hits / runs.
No one has hit .400 (40% success rate) for a full season since Ted Williams, right?
Ok, so a .300 average is great these days. So if you're a DH and you have a .300 average,
you're considered a huge success and
get paid millions of dollars a year... to fail 70% of the time at your only job.

Yes Greg , you're correct but look at the other side of the coin.. When a batter fails, the pitcher has succeeded. You need tolook at the whole picture.
If everyone succeeded 100% of the time in sports, it wouldn't be fun watching. You can't have 100% success rate in baseball , football, etc.

maribell

Maribell, it's not like I've never thought of that you know.
I was just illustrating a point.

And as far as I'm concerned, it's a bunch of spoiled brat full grown men
playing a CHILD'S game for millions of dollars and thinking they're
a heck of a lot more important than they are.
And I mean that of all sports where people are getting paid big bucks to play a game.
I don't care if they "give it 110%", "play through the pain", etc etc.
Sure some guys would play just as hard for free... But not many.

Yeah, I know that makes me somehow unAmerican or not make me a guy anymore or something...
in the eyes of a lot of my fellow testicle-clad humans,
but that's how I feel about bigtime, major league, well paid professional sports.

But then, it's me ... 99octane ... did you really expect conformity?

That is definitely the most difficult thing to do in all of sports. Also, the batter has to hit the ball 'flush' enough to putthe ball in fair play and not hit it to someone. However, hitting the ball so perfect to send it out of the park for a homerun is way beyond comparison in anysport!!!
Now let's talk about hitting the infamous CURVEBALL at 80-85 mph, when the control of the pitcher allows him to hit the black edging ofhomeplate...Ahhhhhhh...Nevermind

This is the reason why a batter that averages .300 is considered one of the best around. .400 is phenomenal!!!

only 2 names were leaked? um a few more than that I can think of off the top of my head manny, ortiz, arod, clemens (another yankee) and pettite. The arguementevery team had guys that did it is weak at best. I guess I have a problem rooting for cheaters and some do not.
