Yup... really no contest here... all sports are tough for very different reasons, but the fact that the NFL comes down to ONE do-or-die game easily makes it the toughest championship to win.
-
I would argue that do-or-die makes it an easier championship to win. Take the NCAA basketball tournament for example. Every year, a cinderella or two knocks off a better opponent. Now, in the NBA an 'inferior' team is going to win a game or two in a series, but you weren't going to beat Jordan's Bulls or Kobe's Lakers or Duncan's Spurs 4 times in a series.

I just keep going back to the fact that Malone and Stockton, Kemp and the Glove, Ewing and Stockton, Dirk, Reggie Miller and the gang, none of those guys won titles. Upward mobility in the NBA is tough.

Mark Cuban has a reason for it in an ESPN article today, but I digress. :)
-
I guess "toughest" needs to be defined.. physically..I'd say NHL is the "thoughest", competetively, I'd say NBA is the toughest.

As for Cuban, he's a b**** , he's a sour sport and a sore loser IMO . I was surprised to see he said he'd root for the Spurs, surprised he'd evn congratulate them, normally all he does is talk smack and make excuses for his team losing...

One thing I see mentioned a lot, including here, is that the act of
hitting a baseball is the hardest thing in sports, and maybe it is.
However, off the top of my head, I don’t see how it is any more
difficult than, say, dunking a basketball, drilling a 50 yard field
goal, shooting a moving puck into a goal, etc.
Michael Jordan could dunk all day long but he flamed out as a baseball player because he couldn't hit. You only need to be tall enough and strong enough to dunk.
As hard as a 50 yard field goal is, Kickers still have a higher percentage of success than batters. Kickers only need to have a strong enough leg and have some precision.
Batters have to simply make contact with the ball before anything else comes into play and as someone already said, hitting 3 out of 10 makes you a really good hitter. I'd say that makes a heck of a lot more difficult than the other things you mentioned.

I agree hitting a baseball is up there as 1 of the hardest skills.. I would put making a goal in hockey up there as well. I dont know what the shots vs goals percentage is for a hockey player, but I imagine it isn't all that high...

To play devils advocate, baseball also has point A (pitchers mound) and point B (home plate), with no defenders or obstructions....difficulty is relative when all you have to concentrate on is one ball going to a very finite area instead of all over a field/court/rink.
-
Hitting a Baseball with a Bat, is without Question? The Hardest think to do in sports! As for the post question? NFL! One game that's it! Lose and go home. NASCAR more physical than NBA and Hockey. Try driving upwards pf 200 MPH, for 3-4 hours. The gforce would get most people.

to me the poll is sort of invalid since the pollster said most will pick NFL but I think NHL is toughest and this is why. As for hardest thing to do in sports while not a team sport golf is pretty tough and a nitro drag drivers have it pretty rough. Then there some totally insane sports like rugby and stuff.
