Hey Robert,
Perhaps share a few more of your lure crafting skills.
The more fishin' stories and pictures the better.
Eric
Id love to start fishing, especially now that I live in central PA. When I lived down south, all I heard about was largemouth. Up here its smallmouth, muskie, and walleye.
I kinda like largemouth, though the others are nice also, you made the list so i'll get you info later.
Ok eric, since you asked, a little about me, i am atleast a fouth generation painter, my great grandfather was the forman for all of the finish woodwork on the titanic, my grandfather, amoung other things was a forman in aden at a refinery with 150 men under him, my dad retired as a financial secretary for the union, he also painted show cars in the seventies (mainly for free) and appeared in several magazines (the cars anyway) i achieved the title of master journeyman painter, i left the union after 8 years to work for the city, not a bad move and have been there for 18 years at the end of the month. I have to give credit to God because i couldnt do anything without Him. I have won awards for my carving.
Onto the lures originally i started off with the intention of exactly duplicating antique lures, i did a lot of research and even these lures are made that way, except i use rattle cans. Each lure is hand carved, this batch took 1/2 hour of carving for each lure, then they are sanded, i then soak for a min of 30 minutes in linsead oil to protect the wood for an aqua environ, each lure is sanded, primed at least twice, then they are spayed white, even if i pInt them black, several different colors get used, details added, then sealed again, then hooks are applied. These lures are my own design, based on old lures, if you dont catch fish with them either you cant fish or there aint no fish where you are at.
These lures are smaller than i like to make but they are just as effective, you wont find them in stores, and if you lose one you'll miss it.
I am sorry that at this time i cant post pictures, i havent figured out how to do it on the ipad, sorry
Anyway i also started two years ago to give or trade away roaks at the convention in LA, ca under the name Bobby Brazil, 2010 cars each had some form of body work done to it, making lures is more fun trust me
James B.. what in the **** would make you go north other then Busch Gardens as that is as far north as have ever been or want to go LMAO..

Ok lets see the stand ups, and i'll decide if  your worthy of a lure, i'd ask my friend eric, but he's a softy, so exactly how many pounds was that bass?
That was my first good fish while learning and came from tuckertown lake in 1992 and if i remember right it was 6 or 6 1/2 pounds .. i only fished for 4 years.

Me as a young guy maybe 25 then (soon to be 44) .. and that big fish was 6+ pounds from Lake Lucas but me being 6' tall makes it look small.

Me and my fishing Buddy (1993) and the one i learned from as he started in the early 70's .. but sadly he passed away in Jan 1997.. 3 months after that classic tournament and one reason i quit fishing..
