I'm not sayin' that this girl is one of the best, but it does seem to me that most of the all time greatest minds and achievers in most any disciplinewas a drug addict! Isaac Newton and Miles Davis to mention a few. It seems that their innocent adventurous spirit maybe wound up getting them into trouble. Andit's that spirit that led them into the drugs, and then the drugs, especially opiates, took them to heights of imagination and knowledge which they werethen able to bring back to us in one form or another. I'm not condoning the use of drugs, but this is just an objective observation and thought!Andy

I was not going to post about this thread, but now it's time.
She has a serious additction or(and)two. What makes anyone here think, that she thinks, her problems were brought on by anyone else but herself? I'venever read, or heard anything to that "fact". Do I feel sorry for her, no, sad is more the word. I will always feel bad for "anyone" thatmakes drugs and alcohol their ruin, no matter what their status in life. She,like many others make their own beds with alot of help fom others. I can'thelp but wonder where she got her first hit from? A manager, bodyguard, record company exec? I have a very strong feeling that there is a strong culpability ofpeople close to her that "guided" her. Some people are very weak, don't ya know.
Take a really good look at the link that Scott posted of her the night of the Grammys, she is not "high". Look at her eyes. Yes, her actions are alittle suspect, but that is Amy. Look at her eyes.
She is in rehab. I wish her, and any other person that is thrust into the limelight ,all the best to kick those demons!
That is all I'm going to say about this.
Later, Steve

No one should feel sorry for these losers that make millions and then throw it away on drugs and booze. I don't have any sympathyfor any of these people. Now if you want to feel sorry , feel sorry for people who don't know how to pay this months' rent or don't know where theywill get money for their next meal or don't have a place to live. Feel sorry for the old people who have no one to take care of them . etc. Do NOTwaste time feeling sorry for a millionaire who screwed up their own life.

Maribell

"Dancing with the daffodils" is a metaphor for going whichever way the wind blows (*cough* Hillary *cough*) and/or doing what the rest of the crowdis doing. So, if you see me doing that, shoot my retarded ass. That's what I was driving at. And should BlueWagon read this and bring in phalic symbolism,if you ever see me lying on my couch in a pensive mood "dancing with the daffodils"...or in a Hot Wheels Freudism..."polishing the helmet on myRed Baron," please quietly close the door as you leave and lock it behind you.

It's ironic her big song is called Rehab... she and only she can straighten out her life if she chooses to... she's got talent...

Ricky Y

Joe, addictions like that age people. Look at Keith Richards. He looked like an old man long ago. When he quit doing drugs, he began to look a lot less like agutter refugee.

Andy, booboo, there's a difference between recreational drug use as a means of escape from the ties of reality, and blowing off reality altogether viaserious addiction. Need we make a list of celebrity train wrecks? Amy Winehouse's appearance while at the Grammy Awards was pretty scary. She istalented, but she sure as hell wasn't during the awards. What respectable rehab centre would allow someone in her condition out of lockdown for an awardsshow? Sheesh.

I have more respect for Amy Winehouse now that she has sought treatment. It's really sad, though, that someone is released from treatment for being famous.A proper treatment centre would never allow that to happen. The same thing goes for other celebs who take the day off from treatment to go shopping, and while they're at it go get tanked.

I don't know if it's that different in California or if it's just that the places these celebrities are going to aren't accredited treatmentcentres, but actually spas for the rich and famous to sneak off to for a holiday. I do know that in Texas, when someone checks in for treatment, they sign astatement saying that they are willingly checking themselves in and if they leave on their own, the treatment centre is not responsible for their actions. However, they still can 5150 your butt (or 5151, 5152) and place you into a state-run facility under actual lockdown. It's prison without the bars, butwith locked doors that have wire-reinforced glass (or plexiglas) and happy pills.

Maribell, have you never heard of mental illness? Many of the "losers who make millions" deal with various forms of mental illness. Many aren'tnecessarily "throwing it away" on alcohol and drugs. Alcohol and drugs are their means of escaping an otherwise crappy world. In mental healthcircles, it's referred to as self-medication. Look around you, Maribell. Odds are, you have friends and/or family members who deal with depression or oneof many other forms of mental illness.
