Those old 440 Exciters were a good solid, reliable and relatively quick machine for a 440.
I saw my uncle this past week and he recalls getting a shipment of two trailers of sleds...it included the Ski-Doo Alpine which is a single ski twin trak piece of crap. Also included were a Dauphin, which was only made for 2 years and a cool looking lite green sled called an Apollo which had a backrest. This was 1970-71 around Christmas. I ended up with the Dauphin, and only recall riding it twice before some dumb ass cousin put straight gas in the tank and fried it!
Love the Yamaha's. Great lines & better performance. A great memory I have is of a neighbor who had a 76 440 SRX & would fly from one end of the field in back of our house, to the other end like a bullet.....what a machine and that unique sound when wide open.

Ahh...very nice. This was my model, except, mine was a black.
How about some love for those fast & light Sno-Jets, Kawasaki/Sno-Jets, & Kawasakis. Always loved the Invaders, SST's, & Thunderjets....heck, loved them all!

Brad Warning and his monster Kawasaki 5-cylinder radial, with motor creator and builder Paul Groth... and below in the first video, they answer the question: "Does it Run?"
Just click on the link below & there's an interesting story with how this machine & engine were built. There is also a youtube link on this page that shows it running. Cool stuff.
