And it sure takes LOTS of gas to feed that torque, at least gas is cheap! ............:)
Drew,
You are correct...I have never seen anything guzzle gas like this car. I can burn a tankful just running a few errands around town.
It is well worth it as I enjoy every mile I drive in it!
I guess I have to go very light on the pedal and try not to open up the secondarys ...yeah right LOL!

Wow John! I just saw this thread. Congrats on your 442! I have heard nothing but good things about Oldsmobiles. The engines are very robust with something like 2.5" or 3" main crank shaft journals. I had a '64 Cutlass F85 with a 330/4speed. It too was a post coupe. Very fun car to drive, but definitely didn't have the power of your big block!
I am glad to see you got the issues worked out quickly and can now enjoy driving the car!

Hey James,
Thanks for the good words on the 442 .
You are right ...Oldsmobile engines are very robust and the Cutlasses are very solid .
How is the Vette coming along...I recall that there was an overheating problem...did you get it worked out?
Cheers,

Johnny:
You have just got yourself a version of the...I repeat...THE greatest car EVER manufactured!
I have had shots at two '70's (one had no upholstery...something I could not have fixed myself, and another I found out had been wrecked like 14 times), one '69 (badly rusted frame) and a later model ('74 in what I thought was an "ugly" white with green detail kit). I have never been able to pull the trigger on any of them, so thank you for living out my dream for me!!!
Oh, yeah...then there was the '71 I saw at a car show in Morgantown, WV in the early 90's. 1971 was my FAVORITE year of years and the sticker on this baby was still displayed in the window: sold to the original owner on MY BIRTHDAY!!! Ah, but it was still not to be. Again, thanks for sharing and if I ever get out your way I WANNA RIDE, TOO!!!!
