I don`t know if anyone heard yet, but Rachael won the Vancouver talent contest with Jack FM last night. I wasn`t there to hear it, but she had some prettystiff competition to go against. She took the grand prize!!! $20,000.00 WOW!! Way to go Rachael!! Awesome job. I guess there will be a redline spending spreein the near future! Take care. Kevin

Dave, that was uncalled for. You really do not know anything about sound or you'd realise that the recording isn't exactly professional and the factthat it's on YouTube, where video and audio is cut to the very basics for the purpose of smaller file sizes. How do you think you can judge her singingbased on that? Also, have you even considered that Rachel is not trying to be some drug-addled sellout and instead is focusing on her kids?<br><br>Rachel, big congratulations! That's a decent chunk of change for your effort. Your vocals sounded a little different in that version of the song. Itreminded me of a few songs sung by Linda Perry of 4 Non Blondes (that's a compliment).

Well............ Jack, I was cool with what i said until Tabby posted and i looked back through the thread and realized Rachel never posted anything herself,so i felt bad. Usually when she puts up her own song for public scrutiny like she does on Youtube, i will comment, so far there was only one song thatdidn't pain me. Well Rach, you know me. I'm gonna be picky about the quality of the sound system and even the accompaniment because you have a <span style="text-decoration:underline">very</span> strong voice that deserves to be demonstrated as it truly is, without any feedback or overpowering of a microphone thatcan't handle the power of your voice.<br><br>Dave, the "drug-addled" bit was as a reference. In other words, she's focusing on her family instead of doing what so many others would by andthat's abandon them for an even remote opportunity at fame. The majority of those who do are the ones who end up being asked "are you dating?"along places like Hollywood Boulevard and hooked on drugs to try and kill the pain they feel for life not being up to what they expected.<br><br>I've seen it on a personal level. A few friends left Austin for what they felt was the glitz and glamour of the LA music scene. Too much competition here.The last I knew, only one had returned home to Austin, looking about 30 years older than she really is, from all the drugs and living life in the gutter. Ofthe two others who remained in Cali, one committed suicide and no one has heard from or of the other for at least 10 years. She's probably either in prisonor dead.<br><br>In my opinion, Rachael (sheesh! I've been misspelling it for a long time!) has a better voice than a lot of singers. It's an extremely tough businessand I'm sure she's aware of that. A lot of people would drop everything for the offer she has to do the lounge singer act at that guy's chain ofcasinos, not giving a second thought about it. Rachael has more going for her than a great voice and that's her family and having wisdom of life experiencebeyond teenage years to help guide her.<br><br>Rock on, Rachael =)
