Emotional Rock Songs
Are there any favorite songs of yours that seem to bring out the emotions or a tear to the eye for you?
Here's a couple that get to me every time I hear them. One of the artists, Ian Hunter, has said in interviews that bringing someone to tears is one of thehighest compliments he can get as a musician.
John
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vi5KJvSSXZc
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yT6Luh-D6TY

Don't know if it would be considered classic rock/folky kinda rock, but every single time I hear it, I get all choked up.....Cat's in the Cradle byHarry Chapin.

U2 "With or Without You"

A wonderful experience...

Soon after my wife had left me I found myself in Universal City Walk, and they played that song on the big vid screen... I just stood there and cried like ababy, I mean, like, really wailing. Well, two women came up and asked if I was okay - and then a couple more people walked up... and before the song was overthere were probably close to a dozen people standing there giving me a group hug... it was absolutely incredible... It was at that moment that I startedturning my life around... I'll never forget it...

Greg

I downloaded that song about four years ago and played it over and over again really loud hoping my husband would clueinto the words. That song could have been written for him. alright....these threads have turned this place into a bunch of girly-men, namby pamby softies.....so I will explain my song's reasoning for me.....

Karen, your post made me think why.....my dad was physically there for me, he was not mentally there tho. It was tough for a little kid(me). Hey don't getme wrong, I was lucky he was there at all.....my wife's dad bagged on them when she was young. I found myself going down the same exact route he did. Iheard this song one day about 4 years ago, and I got really depressed, and saw how it affected my relationship with my boy. I felt like the world's biggesta-hole. I got depressed and hard on myself. In turn I got really hard on my boy. At a whopping 3 years old, he really deserved it. I felt like an even biggerjerk. I had to get help. For over a year, I went to therapy for a year, twice a week. It helped. I realized that I couldn't pass along what my dad did tomy son, thru me. It wasn't my boy's fault, but I didn't know better. Strange thing was, almost a year *to the day* I heard that song again. Thistime it was a better experience. things aren't perfect, no one is! But when I hear this song, it puts me back to that good spot, and I thank Mr. Chapin forthat. I'm sure that would make him happy

chad

Not a rock song, but after reading Greg's Karen's and Chad's posts, maybe we need to think about how we interact with our loved one andfriends........

I have always liked this song..... It is sad that 2 of them are no longer with us......

http://video.google.com/v...p;aq=3&oq=traveling+w#

I love all the big hair ballads from the 80's and 90's. There are a lot of tear jerkers from the 60's and 70's as well. I don't considermyself a girly man but some songs I have to change the channel when they come on unless I'm alone then I get into them if you know what I mean?
#1 Our very own from Redlines Online Marc Simon hotwheel junkie on the bass guitar.
#1 Just Another Night/ WildSide http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmkRHlsEzXY
How Many Lies/ WildSide
Beth/ Kiss
Hardluck woman/ Kiss
Heaven/ Warrant
Every Rose/ Poison
Angel song/ Slaughter
Listen to your Heart/ Roxette
It must of been love/ Roxette
Love song/ Tesla
Don't Know What You've Got (till It's Gone)/ Cinderella
Heartbreak station/ Cinderella
Nobodys fool/ Cinderella
Your all I need/ Motley Crue
Without You/ Motley Crue
Change/ Motley Crue
Home Sweet Home/ Motley Crue
November rain/ Guns n ###### Roses
Don't cry/ GNR
Picture/ Kid Rock
Midnight Blue/ ELO
9,999,999 tears/ Dickey Lee
Last Kiss/ Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers (Pearl Jam did a remake)
Faithfully/ Journey
Love Bites/ Def Leppard
love hurts/ nazareth
You and Me/ Alice Cooper
Two out of three/ Meatloaf
Angie/ The Rolling Stones
Out of tears/ The Rolling Stones
Imagine/ John Lennon

I'm sorry but I could go on for days.
Andrea, I can relate. I like that one along with" If You Could Read My Mind" by
Gordon Lightfoot. I remember I couldn't listen to Van Halen's " Love Walks In" for
a long time right after the summer of 1986. It reminded me too much of a girl who broke my heart.
I think I'm getting a little mushy here and I think I better go have a beer and lose my hearing to
some Iron Maiden or AC / DC.
Dave.
