EXCLUSIVE! Ed Roth's Orbitron! Fully Restored! I Have The Pix!

<p><strong>Awhile back, there was a topic started about Big Daddy Roth's Orbitron, where it was found, how it was brought back to the States, what kind ofbad condition it was in..........<br><br>I had posted that the next time i went to Galpin Auto Sports in North Hills, Ca., in the Heart of the Smokin' San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles, (whereall of this Hot Rod/Classic Car/Custom Car/Drag Racing madness REALLY started, not Ohio! <img src="http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif" alt="image">) i would try to get some pix of it..........<br><br>Well, i was there today, with the Mustang and Ford Club i belong to, for a private viewing of the G.A.S. Great pics! How much was the final bill for the resto job? Just incredible.......... I wish Hot Wheels would do the casting in their 100% line, or JohnnyLightning, it would go great with the Mysterion they did! Dave

I know Roth was a genius, and some of his designs were out there, but this one has got to be one of the ugliest.............. I guess if I found it Iwould've restored it too, (and then quickly sold it)

Awesome, Johnny. I forgot about that article I had posted. It looks excellent...and, yeah, that carpet boggles the mind. Seems as if you'd have to have thecar flea-dipped to clean that stuff. HW did a KILLER rendition of the Road Agent and Mysterion for their 100% line...this would be a nice addition.<br>edit...I see they opened the dome at one point. Did you get a glimpse of how the mechanics are done on that? It it strictly manual with plexiglass flexing andwobbling all over?

<strong>Ryan, the dome and hood both are electronically operated, by the push of a button.........<br><br>Dave, not sure how much was invested in the restoration, a question i for sure should have asked........<br><br>But you can be sure that the G.A.S. Sort of on topic. I've been looking for info on a novelty helmet. There just isn't much out there. I know a guy who has one that he definately got fromRoth (He did sell them in his ads) but it's a bit different than mine. Most believe that the one Roth sold were just shells. Mine has a liner and it ismarked that it was made by Buco. Roth didn't make his either, he just sold them. <strong>Perry, not sure about Big Daddy Rat, but i know for a fact that those plastic WWII German Helmet copies were sold thru the Honest Charley speed shopsback in the '60's as :<br><br>"Surfer Hats".......<img src="http://static.yuku.com//domainskins/bypass/img/smileys/laugh.gif" alt="image"><br><br>Black plastic ones cost 1.00, and the chrome ones were 2.00.......<br><br>The liners were 1.00 extra..........<br><br>That's the best info i can provide, and my Pop confirms it, just showed it to him, and he remembers them being sold thru Honest Charley quitewell......</strong>
