Sometimes, you think that you are buying american but you're not really.... All FORD Crown Victorias are made in Canada. All new Camaros will be madein Canada. Ford makes several cars in Mexico. The Chevy Equinox (first body) has an engine made in China. I don't know where the engine of the new onethat is about to come out is made. The Chevy Aveo is Korean.

Anyway, you do need to thank Honda and Toyota for the big improvements in American cars. If so many people didn't buy these foreign cars, Chevy wouldstill be churning out the Chevette (should've been called the ****vette) and the Citation and Ford the Granada and Pinto. Chrysler the Aspen/ Volare. Remember those dogs? They were so bad you don't even see one of them ever on the road or at a car show.

The bottom line, buy what makes you happy. I have piece of mind that my 2 Hondas will not break down.. that they will retain their value 4-5 years later..Hubby's Accord is at 140,000 miles and the only repair has been 1 ABS brake sensor. Otherwise, it has been just regular maintainance. Nothing rattles onthat car and it survived a rear end collision in 2008 that cost GEICO nearly $9.000.oo to repair. Had we bought a Cavalier, the car would've beentotalled by Geico and who knows, I might be widow today.

Anyway, let's hope that the American car companies can produce cars that will be dependable and trouble-free for years.
That will be the only way that American cars will begin to hold their value .
maribell

maribell

A tree won't ever lie or let ya down. The government screwing it up?? I thought the car companies were in bankruptcy, not the government and if it is? Ithad an eight year head start to disaster........

The auto companies screwed up for many, many reasons but AMTRAK has been bankrupt for decades.
