Ebay threat....
Will I'm selling off all my rlc castings and other items to make room for some htf castings and at the same time getting the funding. Any way all myauctions completed a few hours ago and checking my mail this is what a buyer with a score of 51 said...

[ I just bought two items from you. Can combine the shipping? Otherwise I am paying $0.00 for both cars.]

I have no problem combining shipping, but I don't like the way this came about. This buyer is threatening me with non payment after the fact that he shouldhave contacted me before he bid and of course I'd combine shipping.. What I'm asking is what would you do? combine shipping and block him/her frombidding my auctions, refuse and report him/her for non payment?
-
I would send him a reply asking him to restate his inquiry. What a fun place, the bay can be... After that exercise, cancel the sale and be done with him/her.
-
"Dear Sir;

While I appreciate your winning bids and your desire to have me combine the shipping,
which I would have anyway, I want you to know with all due respect that as a bidder,
it is you who must read, understand and agree to my terms as a seller
before placing a binding and potentially winning bid.
It is not your place as a bidder / buyer to ever dictate terms or issue ultimatums to your seller.
Your e-mail to me came across as unnecessarily confrontational, especially since you asked
a fair question (one better asked before placing a bid) about combining shipping costs,
however, in the same e-mail, without waiting for a reply, you issue a threat.
This is neither appropriate nor acceptable. Before we go on from here,
I want to know if you understand this, if you can see why your e-mail concerns me. Do you?
I await your reply. Respectfully, ________________"

While I really like Greg's wording, I would probably just combine the shipping and expect him/her to pay. Say for example, if it would cost $4.95 to shipeach car. I would combine shipping as ordered by the buyer for a shipping total of $9.89 and be done with it.

There....It's combined.
-
I would also agree to combine (as I would anyways) but with a note that threats are unbecoming.

"I'm sorry if you have had bad experience in the past with sellers who won't combine shipping but the way to handle that isn't withthreatening
everyone with non payment".
-
What a jerk. If it were me, I'd tell him to take a hike. But that's just me being impulsive.

Although sellers can no longer leave negative feedback (I'm not even a seller and I see this as stupid), non-payment is a serious violation of eBay policyand will result in a strike.

Greg's email template may work with normal people, but not with idiots. Jamie's suggestion may work better. An example: "Perhaps you could restate your inquiry using the word 'please.' A little politeness goes a long way and nobody likes to bethreatened. Thank you."

Hopefully this will make him realize what a jerk he was being and the transaction can be concluded from there.

I would just combine the shipping, and have done with it.
The buyer/customer is always right..........even though they can be total
a$$holes.
That's better. I worked in retail for several years before becoming self employed. I couldnever go back to it. I never had a clue that ADULTS could be so rude and immature. There's something very wrong with the phrase "the customer isalways right". We're all human beings and should be treated equally. Customers are no better than sellers. I go out of my way to be polite and patientwhen I'm out shopping because I know what those poor people have to deal with on daily basis.

~Karen
Sometime it's hard to understand or actually know what an email means. Do you really think that is what they were getting at?

Granted, the tool is kinda being a jerk about it and there is no reason to add in the "Otherwise I am paying $0.00 forboth cars." part.

Have some fun with them and send them a non-paying buyer alert. LOL

He's probably been ripped off on shipping before. Some seller once tried to charge me priority mail twice for 2 hotwheels because the cars were already packed. My reply to him was either tapethe boxes together or unpack the cars and combine them or he wouldn't get acent from me..... I certainly did not believe that he was going to ship me to separate boxes...

Anyway, send him an invoice combining the two auctions. If you write to him , write to him through ebay so that there is a permanent record.. Don'tmake a big deal. You want him to pay. Once he's paid, block him from bidding . At least, you probably won't deal with him again. He probablyisn't a bad guy. He just expressed himself crudely.

A non-paying strike will NOT take if he responds to the alert that you refused to combine the shipping. And remember, he can get you for 2 potentialnegatives. So pack the items together and combine the shipping and move on. Believe me, if this is the only idiot response that you get on Ebay, you aredoing well.

Some guy just won 5 auctions in the past 3 weeks and now I have to wait until after he gets his next pay check next Thursday and if he has enough money , hewill pay me then... If not, I have to wait for his "other " next check or for the person that owes him $$$ to pay him for an odd job that he justdid.... Unbelieveable, how people will bid and bid and not have any money. Everything that he won is cheap. He owes me about 30 bucks including shipping. Trust me, don't let the emails/customers get to you. You move on. Block them so that in the future you don't have to deal w/ them.. and ifthey are truly , truly , truly awful and they sell..... well do onto them as they did to you but remember to do it w/ a different Ebay name/address....

maribell

I would forward his "extortion" email to Ebay.....They frown on stuff like that......HJ
-
Thanks for all the input guys/ gals... I sent him Greg's message, got paid and called a few choice names.... Needless to say he's on my blocked bidderslist...
-
They won the auction. You pay said auction. By saying you won't pay for shipping, means you won't get your item. They won said auction you give them atotal inculding shipping. You don't get said total you don't get item.
-
I don't like people like that. I say combine the shipping and wait about 2 weeks before you mail it.

Ed

Don't wait 2 weeks to ship. Why risk your future potential sales because of 1 butthole? If I'm him, I give you a negative forshipping 2 weeks late w/o a valid reason. I mean, any seller does that to me, had better have prove of a disastrous situation at home or believe me, thatnegative is coming for shipping 2 weeks after payment is received. You get the payment, take a day or two and then ship it. I would print online andmake sure that there is a delivery confirmation incase he tries to pull a fast one.. Remember that Ebay now has those stupid DSRs.... where a customer canrate the seller's performance too...

The temptation is great to ship late and /or pack poorly but it's not worth it if he gives you a negative and then potential bidders stay away from yourauction. Ship the damn thing and block the SOB and move on. DO NOT GIVE HIM A FEEDBACK FIRST. LET him post it for you first and then if you're reallyticked off , do not return it... But move one. Do not focus on this guy. He just doesn't want to be ripped off on the shipping.

Years ago, I dealt w/ buttholes like this by writing their shipping label in a pale yellow marker. The postal machines can't read yellow ink and thepackage is slowed... But with the new Ebay policy and the fact that I'm older now and have calmed down a bit, I block the buttholes and move on. Ialso believe that they lose more by not buying my stuff than I lose from their $$$$. (I know that I'm a great seller and have gotten cockier these lastfew years.....)

This seller paid shipping on both items after I responded to his first email.. And since then a half dozen emails calling me names and demanding the itembe shipped immediately.... I responded that items will be shipped on Monday morning 6/8/2009 and to please stop the harassing emails.. Well no more emailsbut, I'm sure to see my first neg from this....

Pack a big pile of dog$h*t under the cars in the box. After he takes the cars out, he "digs" thru the papers and 'voila" !!!
-
Jeez, after all this maybe you should tell us who he is so we can all block him.
