Finally got a bike...
Looked at alot of stuff over the past several weeks; knew I wanted a '70s dual-sport, and eventually focused on XT500s (that's a single-cylinder 500,folks, sans electric start). Found the right one, a '77, the other day: One owner, new carb, brakes and cables, everything works as it should and alreadystreet registered. Need to replace the back tire with a crossover - and will probably do the front, too - but not a ding in the tank nor tear in the seat andit doesn't leak a spot of oil. Haha, yeah, almost. About 50, which is good in my book. And it's a four-stroke, so it burns fairly clean...

Very cool. Starting a single thumper of the 500 variety can be a learning experience. LOL Nice bike.

This helps...a little...as you don't have to kick it asmany times to get it to fire, but the compression is the same, as you don't hold it down when you kick.

That's the way my 500 street bike is. Nothing to it once you get the hang of it.
