...but they build a helluva lighthouse! Check out this vid of French lighthouses being pounded by the North Atlantic... Lighthouses are built on the shore usually to light-up the shoreline correct?<br>Well some of those lighthouses look to be built on a rock with nothing surrounding them. If that's the case wouldn't have been easier & smarter toblow the rock they built it on instead?
I've been in that part of France, and the lighthouses are there to warn of long chains of exposed or semi-submerged rock outcroppings. They just built themon the highest ones. They'd have to do a lot of blasting to get rid of them all...

A couple of thoughts regarding the light houses:<br><br>Which "generation" are the ones featured? Are they the originals, or did it take a couple of tries to get them built sturdy enough?<br><br>And secondly, it's one thing to be safely tucked inside, but what trials and tribulations did they go through to actually construct them?<br><br>Jeff

When I called my daughter over to see the spectacular footage she immediately suggested that they must have builtthem at low tide.
