What are you guys using for anti virus software?
I'm using Kaspersky and it totally sucks. I had an old version and it ran out and when I upgraded it turned by computer into super slow motion mode. I don't know diddley about computers, or as much "as the next guy", so just curious what you guys are doing.
I know a lot of people use free software too. Ready to dump this stupid program
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
Sophos for my Mac & McAfee for my pc. Sophos is free for Mac's. I hope this helps.

I just wash my hands alot.
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
I switched to Apple and now don't use one or need one.
I used Avira when i had my PC and it was free, worked pretty good, better than Symtec or Mcafee
But Apple by far has been worth the $$
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
If at all possible buy a Mac. You will never look at a PC again and or anti virus software will be a thing of the past for the foreseeable future.
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
I appreciate the Mac thoughts, but not looking for a two thousand dollar fix right now, ha. I took off the Kaspersky and started running AVG...million times faster.
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
Don't use free AV software, it's useless...(like AVG) Norton is a huge resource hog...I've been using NOD32 for a couple of years and love it, not sure if it's still around and quite frankly I've been out of the loop for a while so this info might be dated.
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
I bought the Mac Mini...$500.00 and some change, works great for me. I don't do alot on computer. Mac has some options and are more reasonable than you think. You have to ask yourself, do you want to keep worrying about virus's and updating your computer along with the frustrations that come with it?
It was hard for me to take the plunge and spend the $ for a mac but the piece of mind and quality is worth it. I now have a computer that I will most likely never have to upgrade in my lifetime. Virus's are not an issue anymore. Really something to think about. I understand it can be a huge commitment to the wallet, been there.
Good luck
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
GRISOFT - AVG - free and its extremely useful
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
I just started using AVG...so far so good. That kaspersky was a friggin disaster
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
I have been using AVG for 3 yrs and like it alot. I went from free to the full Internet version in June its worth the piece of mind.
AVG runs specials so thats when you need to signup I got 2 yrs for $65....Keep an eyeout and signup when they have the promo to upgrade from free to the full version.

Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
I have been using ESET NOD32 for about 2 yrs now. Never had a problem...
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
I used AVG free for the better part of 8 years and never had any issues, but just switched to Norton because Comcast gives it for free.
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
A lot of people seem to have good luck with AVG...there have been an astronomical amount of downloads, so it can't be all bad. I just bought a new lap top and the people at best buy acted like a took a dump in front of them when i mentioned AVG. They must have some kind of training that tells them they get fired for recommending free software, ha.

Best Buy has good prices on laptops...But as far as software they push whatever they are told to. When I bought my laptop they were pushing Trend Micro and Webroot both ok.
When my sister in law got her laptop they were pushing Norton.
The only 2 I would not use are Norton and McAfee both leave alot to be desired.
I like AVG and if you go full version you have are in great shape. Malwarebytes is excellent to run for malware scans and you can get the free version or lifetime for $20....

Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
you're exactly right. I bought my laptop two years ago and all they could talk about was Kaspersky, now they don't even mention it. I guess because its terrible.

I just got a Gateway laptop PC, from Best Buy, and the salesman didn't try to push anything on me as far as anti virus protection. But it did come with a Kaspersky 6 month free AV program disc, should i use it? I'm currently running on the free 2 month Norton AV program that came with the laptop, but it's not gonna last forever.........
I know AVG is a good system, i'll probably do that when the Norton runs out.........
Re: What are you guys using for anti virus software?
Ha, I got a gateway from BB too! We probably have the same one. First, I absolve myself of all recommendations on anything to do with computers as I know diddley squat. Having said that, I think the Kaspersky is probably a decent program, it just doesn't work with my older Vista and who knows what else. I spent a month or so on the Kaspersky website trying to figure out the problem and I think its just beyond the grasp of regular humans. The bottom line is, if it works then use it, if its super slow and bogs down everything you do...uninstall it.
