PS3 or X-Box 360?
My son's 10th birthday is this coming weekend. The X-Box 360 is at the top of his wishlist. I think it's at the top of the list because he's been brainwashed by the "kinect" commercials lately. I've had several people tell me the PS3 is better. So we're debating between the 360 with "Kinect" or the PS3 with "Move".
Opinions? Remember, he'll be 10. We don't want him playing graphically violent shooting games, etc.

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
I love the xbox myself but the PS3 is pretty awesome too. If you are playing in the family room I would say the PS3 for the blueray player. As for games they both have the same great games. I guess it also helps if you know someone in the family or 1 of his friends and what they have. I have 2 360s 1 for me and 1 for my 13 yr old. So we can share games.

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
I don't think he'd enjoy staring at 3 BP's, crazy I know, but kids will be kids. lol
Thanks for the input Strider. We have a BluRay player already so that's not so much of a factor (although it'd be good to have a second one) I do like the idea of having 320 GB to store music movies, etc. on the PS3.
I guess I should add... we've had a PS2 for YEARS, so I think his wanting an X-Box also is a bit to do with the "grass is always greener" thing. He may just want an X-Box because it's "different" than what he's had.

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
I have both and the one I couldn't live without is the Xbox. Much much better online play and the Halo series is the greatest ever. I dont play my PS3 very often, but the Xbox is running all the time, nearly. The Xbox controller is alot better as well.

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
I have an xbox 360 and I really like it. the graphics are pretty good. note: if you have a PS2, it is painful to look at the screen after playing xbox 360 because of the grainyness.

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
The only thing I can really think of that is better with the XBox is the online play (or so I've heard), which you have to pay for. PS3 online play is absolutely free so I'm cool with that and it's good enough. Everyone I know that has switched from an XBox to a PS3 thinks the PS3 is far better. If I was a hardcore online gamer I'd probably consider the XBox...but otherwise I wouldn't. Too many issues.

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
I have a PS3 and as stated the online play is better mostly because it is free. But we are talking about a 10 year old. I would take a previous suggestion and find out what his friends have. Xbox has many more games than PS. The Bluray in the PS3 is the best you can buy because of the processor and plus it has wireless internet for upgrading and movie extras. But the one thing that drives me crazy is I can't play some of the games i want to because they are exclusive to Xbox.
Xbox= more games, probably better experience for a youngster
Can't wait for Black ops release in a few hours :)

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
Thanks guys!
After great debate, we went for the X-Box 360 250GB w/ Kinect. It's really what he wants so, that's what he's gettin. Chat around the dinner/breakfast table kept coming back to how cool it would be to not have to hold a controller. I think most of his friends have the X-Box so sharing games will be easier too.
Everyone was freakin in the store today over the "Black Ops" release.

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
Id go with the Kinect 360 bundle - your son WILL BE the controller and not hold a controller and there are MANY kid friendly games! Just check them out. I would recommend the 360 by far!
Dont waste your money on a "move" its a wii - go with the innovative product

Awesome and since his friends have 1 he will have no problem with controls or differences in the controller. My 13 yr old has one and play at his friends house all the time. And yes Black ops is cool and super hit. I also want to let you know that Toys R Us is having a sale this week. if you buy 2 $60 games they give you a $50 gift card. That comes out to $35 a game and you cant beat that.

Re: PS3 or X-Box 360?
I hear all the time from my friends that thier Xbox things are problematic. "red rings of death"? Playstations have been loyal to me. I just don't have much time to sit on my butt and play video games anymore like I used to. But, it did hurt to put down my 1st generation Playstation console. The thing was very old, but hey, we all go sometime. One day, the reader laser inside wore out. RIP.

Also, what the heck is THE DEAL WITH "BLACK OPS"?!? Am I living under a rock? What is it that drives people bananas for this thing?
