It is with great sadness I tell you...
About the loss of our dear sweet "Maya" our loving kitty for 17 beautifully healthy years. She's been our pride and joy as we've traveled this awesome country twice around in our RV for over the last ten years. Always full of life and loved getting falling down drunk on catnip!!! She was playful nearly right up to the end. See her pics, the last of which being her close to Halloween very happy 17th birthday party.
We had her put to sleep yesterday morning after learning of a very sudden and fast moving rarer cancer in her lung a few weeks earlier. We did NOT want her to suffer with this. Our wonderful and very caring vet sent her to heaven to be our angle while she was in our loving arms with the sun shining in on her fir and beautiful green eyes..
Your good vibes and thoughts for her (and us) is very much appreciated right now

Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
So very sorry to hear. Sounds like she lived a happy and long life. My kittys are thinking of her.
Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
Sorry buddy :(
She was a great companion for you guys! I could always tell by how you always talked about her over the years! Great times!!!
What kind of newfangled cat box is that in the first picture??? Slip N Slide???
Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
Hard to hear news like this, Lance. I'll be thinking about you. (Scott, it looks like a corrugated cardboard cat scratcher. Our cats swear by them.)
Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
Sorry for your loss Lance. She loooks like our last cat we had Matilda. Same white spot as yours also. Had her put to sleep a couple of years ago. She was about the same age and over the course of about 6 months, went downhill. She was a great cat with a real attitude!

So sorry to hear of your loss. I know from experience the saddness & pain you're feeling. I've lost many cats over the years. I've currently got quite a few and a couple of them look a lot like yours only no white on them. Your cat was very lucky to have had you to love and take care of her, and you were very lucky to have had her. She may be gone in body but the memories will always be with you. Below is a poem my vet gave me once after she had to put down one of my cats.

Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
I feel the pain, the memory lives on in spirt. The white spot on the chest of an all black cat is special.I would venture to say that 17 years and twice around the country is a beautiful thing for a kitty.
In short I will share a kitty story with you.First I have to say that generally speaking Im not a kitty enthusiast. There once was a cat named "Handsome",he was a shelter rescue. He is a double fold Scottish Fold and was found among a dozen dogs under a porch. He was in sad shape, most of the hair on his head had fallen out, buggers in his eyes, not to mention the bite wounds. The day I met him I picked him up and he wrapped his arms around my neck like to give me a big hug.He had the ability to scare off guard dogs.He behaved like a dog and a human at the same time with very little kitty in there. He became ill with kidney failure. It hurt to schedule an appointment to have him put to rest.Minutes before the dreaded car ride he passed in his own way.My brother and I dug through the snow and pick axed the frozen ground to burry him.I will never forget him so long as I live.Peace.

Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
So sorry for your loss 17 years is a long time and I can't even imagine how you must have felt when you heard the bad news about the cancer.
We just got a new kitten 2 months ago and I couldn't imagine what I'd do without her.
RIP Maya and may you have all the cat nip and cat naps your heart desires up in heaven.
Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
Thank you all for your wonderful and kind words and personal stories too. Right now this is what we needed.
Honestly our tears are free flowing over her not being here with us as usual, its still so hard to believe.
Over time, of coarse we WILL get though this pain, but for now it just hurts all over

Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
So sad but think of the many years you had, I have never heard of a cat living so long. She must have had very nice owners that took very good care of her.
Re: It is with great sadness I tell you...
Oh thank you for those words, we think so too :001_wub:
