Thinking about going. Is it a good size show with alot of sellers? I was looking at the convention in April in Cin. and too much stuff going on that does not interest me at all. I am looking for a large buy-sell-trade area where I can walk in spend several hours,buy some cool stuff, and thats about it. Not interested in dinners and all the other stuff. Is the Dayton show what I am looking for? Thanks,Mark

Been to the Dayton show and it is a good one. As far as the Nationals, you don't have to buy tickets for all the extras just buy a convention ticket.
The room to room trading and meeting people from the board year after year is worth the price. Just hanging out and talking cars and whatever is a part of it.

Yes you can definitely spend two hours there walking around. I think table fees are $35 each, maybe you could just set up and make a day of it. Lots of new and plenty of old Redlines.

Plenty of NICE deals to be had! John Hodges had a NICE Sizzlers Road Chase set with the box and everything. Only missing the cars. One year, I found the Crack-Ups Crash Course near mint for $20, year before that, I found the original Criss-Cross-Crash for $20...mint unsealed if there is such a thing. I'm serious, stickers unused, cardboard unused, cars sealed! If you are into fixing up redlines and customizing, there is one guy I always go to for custom projects and parts. He always has the goods. A large variety for $5 redline projects and parts cars! Some of the cars ain't bad. I pulled an awful nice aqua Silo out of there once and was quite shocked.

If you have seen the CUSTOMS board lately, the Toy Story and either Back To The Future II or Ghostbusters II will make an appearance!

Oh, has ANYBODY got heir CARDS yet? I need John's phone number. My friends and I MIGHT set up a table of BW and high quality redlines...MAYBE. But I have a question on the show.

I tink its $4 or $5 to get in the door, kids 12 and under are free and they did, and still might, have a little something for 12 and under kids for free. First time I went there, I 2006, I was 12 and got a peg warmer Baja Bug from the time. Blue I think. Hey, it was free! I also got a trading card of some kind from the late 90s.

I doubt you got a card, I didn't yet. But if you get it and turn it in, you get a dollar off admission.

this show has around 200 tables of all kinds of Hot Wheels. Should be a good warm up for convention in April.

Where or how do we get contact info for the show?

I need it too. Anyone get cards yet?

I dug around in some old threads on various sites including an old ad on HWC (the only ad for it) and sure enough, thats the number. I wonder why he won't answer? I couldn't get him last night and I juse tried again. His answering machine is full. Does anyone personally know him? Can we confirm the number is the same this year?

I forgot you were in Indiana, how silly of me. Greenbatteryfuzz...I feel your pain! I can't get out of my house! Cabin Fever may set in (no, not the car).

Just got off the phone with John Hodges and he told me the cards were mailed out earlier in the week.
Yes, his machine was full working 10 hour days, but he is able to take calls this weekend.

Tables are $35 each and he has 200 sold. Admission is $5, bring your card and get a $1 off.

Hey Guys-- Looks like I found someone to carpool with, so I'll be at the Dayton show starting at at 7am on Sunday.

I'm gonna wear my red ACE Hardware baseball cap, so be sure to say "Hello" if I don't recognize you first !

Are there activities for kids at this show?
Thinking about trekking down, but need to have some racing or the like for the young man who would be in tow?

Anyone have experience or is it all just sales and fellowship?

Well, how was it? My customs did very well and stirred up some conversation, met some nice folks, traded and bought some new cars, etc.

Good Show! I was there from 7am to 3pm with plenty to do and see. It was good to talk in person with some of the guys from the board here, like Todd (gobluetodd), Matt (redlinehighbidder), Howard (tat2clod) and Troy (go speedracer go)

I think I made 3 complete circuits of the show looking at every detail on over 200 tables. I bought several collector cases and a bunch of HW Classics and Chase cars, but of course the main attraction was the reds... couple[I][B] thousand[/B][/I] at the show I would say. I think this one table alone had about 800! Although I didn't buy very many, I did have a few choice pickups:

Mark it was nice to see you there. Scott the Dayton show is semi-annual. Usually the third weekends of February and August. Hats off to John Hodges, he not only puts on a great show, he is promoting all year and supporting many of our local club shows. Thanks John.
