Anyone else into RC here?
Wondering if there are any other RC enthusiasts? I do pretty much all of it...planes, cars, trucks, boats, copters etc.
Haven't put anything together for a year now probably... :(
I'd like to find a Mustang Mach 1 kit somewhere. Did anyone ever make a Ready to Run or kit car Mach 1? I'd like something that looked scale... Just want to tool it around the house from time to time. Something to take up the rest of the winter.... its been terrible out...bitterly cold.
Show some of your RC models if you gottem! :)

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
Not personally but my bud is. he has some that just SCREAM like 60 MPH or so. Its fun to do for sure. Have crashed many of his cars or trucks
Re: Anyone else into RC here?
Heck yea.....well at least when I was younger. I was big on Team Associated, and my cousin(same age and grew up on same private rd) was into Team Losi? I think that's how you spelled it. Talk about fun!!! I also had a few planes, but the only time I got it up in the air I pulled a not so successful stall turn. Strike That!!!!! Two times up in the air.....once into a marsh, and once in the driveway. Awesome crashes tho!!! I think I have some pics at home.....Ill have to check!!

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
Hey fellas,
Its fun stuff, thats for sure. I bought a mico plane not too long ago. There is a hobby shop in town that takes things in for consignment, so I took a larger plane in.. and it sold, so I had some cash to spend on something else. Got a little micro plane....just scrambled it around on the floor for a bit and put it back in the box...first flight will be when the weather gets a little better.
Will get some pics when I get time. I'm big into the micro stuff...technology has come sooo far with Lithium polymer batteries... The sky is the limit with these super light, yet powerful batteries. I use them in all my micro planes.
Associated is my choice with cars/buggies/trucks... Losi, is good as well, but I feel they are too much into the "money making" relm. They have all their ready to runs, that you "have to" buy the remote with... I'd have 1,000 remotes if I bought those things... Will get some more snaps of some of these things...but here are a couple of my HPI Baja Buggy... this thing is a blast...have lots of hop up parts on it, including a tuned exhaust, which really makes it scream when I throttle it up...runs off of 2 cycle gas/oil mix. Its awesome! Came in a kit form which you build...the buggy body was purchased seperately...and I gave it a custom paint job...the other buggy is a traxxas platinum edition...came prebuilt, and again, I got custom baja buggy body and painted it...the green one is my all weather car... thrasher...
Typically with a 2 cell lypo battery you can get up to arounf 40-45 MPH...3 cell will do around 60+...which is too fast IMO...but the thing will get up to that speed in no time...torque is unreal in these brushless motors..really 100+ probably wouldn't be hard to do...just hard to control on a small vehicle. Will add pictures of my others when time permits! Show your old ones when you have time!

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
Thanks Greg, I have a lot of fun with it, though I've only ran about 3 complete tanks of gas thru it...gets good gas mileage...seemed like the batteries would run out on my remote before it would run out of gas :) LOL
Here is some of my collection of RC items. I’m more or less a big Micro guy, with many things not in my pics here that I had in a different area of the house… Some planes and cars in the garage and cupboards. I’m a freak and usually overdue everything.
For Starters, here are a couple of RC boats. First is the first I put together…a soling 1 meter by Victor. Fun little things to take out… people always ask me what I’m running for a motor in it…and always tell them its just the wind, and they can’t believe it….

Second is the Mini Cat… small micro boat…only about 12” long… does about 45 MPH in the water….just flies.. that’s only on a 2 cell lypo

Here’s a wooden ship I built…my first wooden model I ever built

I got a really nice Miss Elam, but it’s at my shop, cause I last ran it there before it froze up.
Here I transition into water/air/land
This is a Gemini, by Robbie…they quit making these…I don’t know why, they are a absolute blast. They fly great, and can sweep across grass and dance on water…great fun…I even had to buy an extra… Here is a pic of my extra…my runner was in my garage and didn’t want to go there… I have a custom paint job on mine that looks great…the stickers they include are kinda cheesy and heavy… I like to keep the planes as light as possible.

Here is a plane that I have floats for, but don’t have them on right now. It also has LED lights all around, so I can fly it at night. This was my first aileron plane

Here are a couple of my WW2 planes..sorry so dusty…been working on the basement.
P-51B Mustang

P-47 Chow Hound

P-47D Razorback still need to assemble this one

Here are a few other fun planes.
Cessna

Flat outs…fun to stunt around! J

Mini Ultra Stick…fun plane!!

This is Uncle Sam… I fly him every 4th of July and parade…the kids love him…I fly it right in the street…and land it right at my feet…just a great slow flyer…but winds can’t be much.. The last 4 4ths have been great for it.

The first plane I ever flew, and it still looks great, though dusty!
GWS Slow Stick..talk about relaxed flying! J Great fun! It’s beside a Stevens Areostick

Here come my micro planes J I really like how fun the micros are…but conditions need to be right to fly them without incident. Calm conditions, are really ideal for them.
This is the newest of the family… THE BEAST!

Some sitting in there hangars…ready for spring…though I do pull them out and fly around the house with a couple

Got every color that came out in the Catabria, the first micro plane of mass market…really a collectable to me Red, Yellow and Blue..they don’t make them anymore..so I hunted them down and bought all colors.

Couple copters..sorry didn’t want to dig them out.

Here are some of the trucks buggies and things

Not including the micro vehicles, which are upstairs in the cupboards… Just too much fun…love to tinker with them…just not enough time in the day I suppose.
Hope I didn't post to many pics...I didn't even go in my garage and take pics of my other stuff...that would be massive overload!! :)

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
Yup. Cars for me, airplanes for my dad. I fave an HPI AAR Cuda and my dad has numerous vintage aircraft.
Re: Anyone else into RC here?
Here are a couple more trucks..I already had them, but couldn't post that many pics in one post.
Can I see that Cuda? :)

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
You got the cool toys Jimmy.
I wanna come over and play.I had fun by adding extra power to small RC.So much power the car would just sit & spin.Put a little WD-40 on the kitchen floor and do circles.I had to add cooling fins to the motor because they would overheat and melt. Thanks for the great picture and read thread.

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
I've had lots of different monster trucks and such over the past few years. Right now I have a Traxxas Slash for racing and also this RC8Te for both racing and somewhat bashing. It's a really nice handling truck for how big it is. It's powered by one of the bigger brushless motors.

LOL, thats funny! My wife ever seen me do that she'd have a fit!:)
Sounds like good fun though! What I would do is put dish soap and water on the table and do the same thing That was a blast! :) Thanks for sharing that!:) Brings back some memories!
Re: Anyone else into RC here?
Yonderwheels, you have some seriously nice, and clean trucks! Love the Associated! I bet it runs great!?! My personal favorit is the NIGHTMARE, very cool truck! Love the Custom Camaro body as well!! You do great work! How long have you been doing it?

Thanks! And yeah, the Associated is by far the highest quality truck I've had so far. It runs SOOOO quietly compared to the others and everything is so nice on it. I've had good luck racing it as well. So far it's the only non-RTR that I've bought and I really enjoyed putting it together. It makes it easier to work on now. The others are all Traxxas E-Revos and E-Maxxes. The Nitemare and Carolina Crusher are both based off of real monster trucks. The Nitemare logo is actually painted on and not a decal like the Carolina Crusher. I've been doing it for about 4-5 years now and still love painting new shells!

I'll have to take some pic's of my trucks,we have our own dirt track in the back forty...lots of fun.

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
LOL...Rick, I knew you would come thru :) I sensed that you had this type of enthusiasm in you :) We're all just a bunch of kids...and I love it.
I'd be afraid to run a nitro boat....afraid I'd have to go swimming to get it, after it cut out... YOu ever have to do that?
Thats a sweet plane...is it a pylon racer? Looks big compaired to your couch....what motor are you putting/put in it? Lets see them trucks when you got time...and please keep me posted on your plane! :) Looks fun!

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
That is nice rock crawler... someone spent a lot of time on it. I like the custom tube frame...very nice. The seats, with seat belts...luggage rack, with luggage in it.....nice. Thanks for posting that one. Seems like rock crawlers really caught on...especially for customizing and show. I built up the Kyosho jimmny I need to build a nicer body for it...maybe someday....when I get some time...and a few ideas.

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
Hell to the yes!
Been into them for coming up on 4 years. started with a a Wheely King, now I have
Savage X4.6
Two TT01Ds
A t-maxx
two OFNA hyper 7s
Still got the WK :D
The only pic i have right now is a very old pic of the skyline drifter, imagine it with bronze TE37s, and a few other things. Wish i didn't paint it gun metal though. not reeally a drift colour.

Also i was really into radioshack xmods, and i completely tore one apart and stuffed in Losi micro T electronics, lithium battery packs, and pretty much full alloy drivetrain. When it's running properly it hits something like 60km/h.

Re: Anyone else into RC here?
I had 2 xmods. a 67 camaro and a 05 mustnag. the camaro needs to be rewired (battery pack wires came off of chassis) and it needs repainting. I tore up the factory finish (hit too much stuff). I think i used the mustang once or twice and put it on a shelf because I misplaced the battery pack for a while. I havent used them in a couple years. they were great fun though.

Those are some Sweet cars...drifter Skyline Looks great! The Shack Xmod I'm sure is crazy with the Losi micro gear in it. I have the Micro T, with some hop ups on it...I love it...but my differential went out on it when my youngest was chasing after it and stepped on it. :( Those X mods from the shack were pretty cool cars. I liked the fact that they had some pretty decent looking bodies. What I would do for a vintage Boss 302 fastback body...or a mach1 body...man...or a really cool challenger body... Wish they sold some kits or something... would be great to be able to really make a killer body for some of these cars...then rippem around a little...not too bad though...don't want to thrash all the work that went into them :)
