A "vibe" polisher....
Oh yeah....I spend a LOT of time polishing by hand and dremel too.
Re: RedlineArt..Naked&Proud!*Warning*Full & Partial Nudity**
Since you have experience, on the spoilers were the engines the same on the cars (hc,bh, kk)?

Yes they're all the same...exceptions being the SC and EW...I have noticed minor diameter size differences in the posts that were spun into the engine bays but not sure if there's a pattern yet.
It's kida true...when you take stuff apart you get quite an education.

Re: RedlineArt..Naked&Proud
Really great looking cars.
Love the naked and prouds.
Are you clear coating them or are they slated for color.
The red really pops out at you.
What kinda paint are you using.
Rob
I have found at times there is a width difference in the motor, from car to car, and if you mix them up, they don't always fit between the fender wells.

Thanks Rob
They all get painted eventually...these are all completed now....I just like the way they look completely stripped and thought anybody who likes redlines would like to see them too.
Lots of people have asked why my restores shine...as a fellow restorer you know it all starts with the canvass...also, lots of people think you can only achieve these results by replating....this is proof that you don't.
I use multi grates of sandpaper, steel wool, different metal polishes, elbow grease plus a vibe polisher, dremel and lots of patience....then I shoot them with a $20 Aztec brush hooked up to a can of compressed air under the range fan (yeah my wife wants to kill me but I like all the cool colors our stove wears now)
As for the red it's tamiya clear, not quite as good as the Redline Shop stuff (nothing is) but it works...I also have had success with Pebeo stained glass paint (I painted an LMF apple green with this stuff and it turned out great) but as I said ...Jon's stuff is by far the best so I use it sparingly.....it's hard to get it past the border nazis.

Re: RedlineArt..Naked&Proud
ahhhh A fellow Canadian eh.
Didn't see that at first.
Great work
I can't seem to lay down a nice coat with Tamiya, to thin then not thin enough.
Rob
Re: RedlineArt..Naked&Proud
Tamiya paint is hit and miss with me too, it seems to work best if I thin it with LT at about %10, I find their own brand of thinner to be useless.
Like I said Pebeo glass paint works too, it has to be the solvent based stuff...I thin it with mineral spirits, some work better than others...rose pink and apple green work well, need to try others...you can find it in big box art stores like Michaels or Wallacks....don't buy their water based...it doesn't work.

I love the stuff...I used to thin it but I find the new stuff works best right out of the bottle.

Re: RedlineArt..Naked&Proud
How do you get it.
Can't get it shipped to Winnipeg
I just ran out of my supply of the older spectraflame
Re: RedlineArt..Naked&Proud
I was wondering in a previous thread you had said you were recreating hardto find cars, do any with black engine bays yet?

Just as collectors focus on certain themes I decided that if I'm going to build a collection of restored redlines I would copy the hardest to find colors, protos etc.
No black engine bays but I love spoilers so I have completed the gold prototype collection that I saw on the spoilers website along with a companion hard to find color twin....I am going to post them later.
