Picked up a little vintage honda
Hi guys/gals,
picked up a vintage honda the other day. Really nice condition with hardly any miles. Guy sold it at a fair price. He said it didn't run real good. I started it there, and then just shut it down. He said he got it from a Shriner that used it in parades. Had a fairing on with crash bar, horns and saddlebuckets. Tore all that off. Looks great. Started it up and noticed gas leaking from one of the mufflers...very very weak when trying to let out clutch. Right then I knew it was the plug. Changed it out and runs like an absolute dream. Its a 1975 CB200T...fun little thing to ride on. Not a speedster of course, but will cruise at 55 easily. Fun stuff... :)

Nice ,and looks to be in great shape!

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Yes, it is beautiful. Near perfect. 2060 miles... no tears or dents..all just reflection everywhere. Extremely pleased with it. Starts on first kick, or with just a touch of the button....runs absolutely wonderful. I like the color too!

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Very cool vintage Honda you have there!! I bet it is a lot of fun!! These bikes are really starting to get popular with the collectors and showing up at the local bike nights now! My neighbor has a 72, I believe it is a CB750 4 pipe! These are just too cool!! Thanks for the share!! Bill

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Thanks Bill! I like this bike a lot. It has decent power for its size displacement. I had a 73 450 super sport and this runs a little slower, but not a ton. Feels like maybe 100cc less, not 250. Anyway, I sold that one about 6 months ago... it was near perfect as well. Sold it to a fellow in Canada. The 750 hondas are really getting popular... and the early sandcast frame models are really high...in the 10K+ area for nice ones. I love the late 60s to mid 70s models of hondas, really great runners. Hondas were just made great. Funny how sometimes one can dig one up out of a corner of a barn, where its been sitting for 35 years or so...clean up carb...change oil...maybe plug...clean tank...and they start on the first kick and run like a dream.

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Great little bike. I had a 76 in the early 80's. Heck, yours is nicer than mine was even back then.

Here is the 75 360T I had a couple years ago.

I love the 60's and 70's Honda's.

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Nice Bikes Perry! Your 76' was the orange. Mines the other 76, parakeet yellow. Mine has a build date of 75, but I guess 76' model year.
Love your dream, how does that one run?
Of course, the 750 4...nice...love those bikes. :)
Thanks for posting them!

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
The Dream runs great. It's my regular ride. Has about 17,000 miles on it now.
I like the color on yours better. I almost had another CB200 bought a few months ago but it fell through.

That thing looks like it just rolled out of the show room. Great score, congrats.

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Thanks Guys, I love it. Took it for a little ride today. Smooth shifting...runs really nice. I maybe should have kept all the assessories on it, but I thought it looked like too much. The crash bar is cool...I may put that back on there, its in pefect shape with really nice chrome. Maybe it helped keep the tank and everything in great shape. The inside of the tank looks new, not a speck of rust or discoloration at all....looks like my kitchen utensils. Hell I may put the windshield back on it too...nah...I like the wind thru the hair I have left. LOL

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Windshields on small displacement bikes don't always work real well. I have one for my Dream but the drag makes it more difficult to attain cruising speeds.
I like a rear rack. I carry a couple bungies with me and I've often times found myself strapping things down to take home.

Beautiful little Honda you got, looks super clean and minty! I bought a 71 CB350 for a restoration project with my son, love these old twins.

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Nice 350 there. Looks great...not much to restore it seems!
Yep, would be a nice cafe project, but can't stand it in my heart to tear into it...though just bars and maybe a new muffler...to make it sound meaner. I'm gonna put the crash bar on it next year. I just cannot get it in and out of the basement door with it on. Not putting the shield back on...like you say perry, just to much drag.
Here is a pic of the 45 I sold recently. Nearly flawless. Honestly I like this little CB more. Its a lot lighter...I have no problems putting it up on its center stand. I can run thru the gears on the 200 real quick...I like the tranny better...just smoother shifting.

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
I went and checked the build date of the 200T and it is a K1, in candy gold, not parakeet yellow Build date of 3/75 oops.. I must have been thinking of my DT175 yamaha or something else. :(

I was raised a Hawkeye fan by my Dad's influence, even though I've lived my whole life in Wisconsin. My Dad was born and raised in Iowa and is the biggest Hawkeye fan EVER. My parents still go to a few Hawk football games a year.

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Hey Kurt, I remember you mentioning your fathers passion before :) Where in Iowa was he from? Yeah, we may not be very good this year, but win or loose, I'm a die hard fan...will always be. I've been all over the country and lived in several other states...this is where my heart is. :)

My Dad's from Goodell, Iowa. A TINY little town about 2 hours North of Des Moines. If you blink, you'd miss it! :) He moved to Wisconsin after his college years.
I'll have to turn on the game this afternoon and watch some... I'm sure my Dad will be!

Re: Picked up a little vintage honda
Hey Kurt, that is a small town. Lots of smallies around here. Lots of people left when the jobs did. Fortunately we're based on the farming industry, and so there will always be those. Even with this down economy we're doing fairly well here. Helps when you have the most millionairs per capita (farmers), spending their money. Game starts at 11:00 VS Pitt... Gonna meet up with an old friend for the game... Take it easy, and make sure to call Dad! :) PS: I have some old hotrod magazines for you, email me your address sometime.
