What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
In honor of Dave's great 'First Concert Ever Attended' thread I thought this might be cool as well. What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
I'll never forget my choice as it was The Who, in '79, late December @ the Boston Garden, 1st row, 1st balcony on the 'Who Are You' tour. This was just 2 shows following the Cincinnati tragedy & Kieth Moon had passed in '78 with Kenny Jones taking his place (although no one could really replace the great Moon). It was an incredible show & one that'll always be my #1 on my list.

Hands down, Alice Cooper. There was stuff going on all over the place the whole time. Very entertaining.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
AC/DC For Those About to Rock Tour. It was my first time seeing the band.
Favorite release by AC/DC is Jailbreak '74!

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
The best one for me was Iron Maiden with Twisted Sister at the Rosemont Horizon in Chicago. It was an awesome concert and if was free plus airfare lol. The only major thing I have ever won in my life was a Rock Flight from a now non-existent WLLZ radio station in Detroit back in 1984. They flew me and guest out there for two days, concert tix plus 400 bucks cash.
A close second would be Ozzy Osbourn's (I think it was Bark at the Moon tour) Mettalica opened for him and they blew him away. In fact the crowd at Cobo haul almost rioted and tried booing Ozzy off the stage.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
For me it would either be Ministry or any of the ten GWAR concerts I've been to.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
Neil Young 1996. I actually remember all of this one. It was outdoors in Burgettsville Pa. About 3 hours away. I worked the night before, slept a couple hours and drove up by myself ( no one else wanted to go). I had an in with a person at the local radio station. They gave me 6 comp tickets because the station didn't use them either.
Arrived and someone walked by looking for tickets........Sold the other 5 for like $60. Paid for my trip. The opening act was some really lame group "The Spiritulists" or something equally as lame. It was cool because I just laid down on the hillside and took a nap while they played and I was then recharged. LOL
Steve Earl then played. He was great also. Neil Young live is amazing. "Like a Hurricane" live was without question the most incredible single song I've ever seen performed live. When finished he had two strings left.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
My wife was awarded a trip to San Francisco from all state and they had a private concert with Huey Lewis and the news, really he rocked, there may have been 120 people there

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
Wow, have seen several. As for one that blew me away was Stevie Ray Vaughn on the Soul to Soul tour in detroit, MI.
Second Row, about a year before he died in Chicago.
As for a hole concert experience, It would have to be anyone of the first 4 Lalapaloza's (spelling?) The first was
the best with Jane's Addiction ending the show. Last time I tripped away. LOL

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
Impossible to pick a favorite, leaving much out... -- Saw Bob Dylan 2x, Allman Bros. 4x, saw The Who in 1982 (and later), Van Morrison 3x, Warren Zevon 3x, Bonnie Raitt 3x @ her peak, Neil Young 3x (Ragged Glory = bliss), fIREHOSE 2x, Waterboys, Bears, NRBQ, Black Crowes, Steely Dan 2x, Syd Straw (met her), JazzFest in NOLA many times, Richard Thompson, Iggy Pop... like I said, impossible to pick. Saw REM play bars as one of 20 in the room, then later as a big attraction. I missed the Lowell George era but as a Little Feat fan was jacked to see them reunite in the early 90s... all that said, as has been said many times before, "There is NOTHING like your first Grateful Dead concert".
And, I have a great memory of my parents taking me to see Ella Fitzgerald, so if this is a competition, I win. ~p

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
Been to many many shows... Grateful Dead, ACDC, Kiss, the Monsters of Rock shows, Phish, the first Bonnaroo, Van Halen,Pantera,FARMAID,HORDE, U2, Stones, of course our own DasPanic's band, Widespread Panic. Saw Metallica open for Ozzy, saw GNR open for Metallica and Metallica open for GNR, Janes addicition, SRV, Clapton, Billy Joel and so many more. But and I may get laughed at for saying this one of the greatest live acts I have seen to this day is still REO Speedwagon, they are unreal live

I saw them on the same tour at the Worcester Centrum & thought Maiden stole the show that night & being big fan of theirs, no surprise. The BEST metal show I EVER witnessed hands down.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
A really hard question to answer!
Metallica back in their prime was great!
Van Halen with Sammy on the 5150 tour was a double treat.
Seeing KISS for the first time was probably my favorite since I was a fanatic...
Eagles are very good live, and last year seeing Roger Waters perform "The Wall" in it's entirety was a fantastic show!!!

The best one for me was The Scorpions in Springfield Ma, it was mid eighties.
They played lots from the Lovedrive album, the show was dynamic!

Sammy Hagar is on of the best solo artists on the planet. Van Halen is just not Van Halen without David Lee Roth. I did see the Sam and Dave tour where they both did Van Halen and a few solo tunes. Dave opened up and Sammy Hagar stole the show.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
Best performance I ever saw was RUSH - All the Worlds a Stage Tour in Des Moines, Iowa 11/15/1976 (had to google the date) Those 3 guys Kicked A**!
Most memorable (due to odd circumstances) was Van Halen opening for the Doobie Brothers on Credit Island July 16, 1978.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
I'll have to pull out all the tickets stubs sometime. I love live music.
One of my favorites:
SPINAL TAP (Milwaukee, WI - 1991 or 92, Front Row!) Even got a pick from Nigel (Christopher Guest)
Probably the most fun I've ever had at a concert!

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
Best? No, but I did see Gordon Lightfoot last night. His best days are behind him but it was still great being able to see a musical legand put on a really good show.
He doesn't always do Did She Mention My Name? but it's one of my favorite older songs of his and he opened the show with it last night and followed it with Carefree Highway. That started the show off perfect.
He's 73, basically died twice so he's not the singer he once was but he simply nailed If You Could Read My Mind. You could tell he was pleased with his performance on that one. I have some pretty good pics and video that I'll post later once I get it all loaded. We had 5th row seats. I've always wanted to see him and I'm glad I did.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
I have seen a ton of bands. My wife loves concerts too so we see quite a bit. Hands down the two Pink Floyd concerts were the best. The Momentary Lapse of Reason tour in 1988 and the Division Bell tour in 1994. Both times I saw them at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin. The stage show was just as incredible as the band was. They sounded great!

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
Absolute best would have to be Springsteen early in the 'Darkness on the Edge of Town' tour ~ 1978. He opened with a screaming version of 'Badlands' and didn't let up for three and a half hours. Pretty sure 'Born to Run' was one of the encores going on midnight.
Other favorites include seeing Ray Charles in Chicago not too long before he died; Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello together in Bloomington, IL a couple of years ago; The Marshall Tucker Band in the summer of '79 before Tommy Caldwell was killed; The Civil Wars in Cincinnati last spring; Tom Petty and The Eagles back in the 70s; Robert Plant, Alison Krauss and Sharon Little in Lexington, KY on the 'Raising Sand' tour.

Re: What was the best concert you ever saw/attended??
I have seen hundreds of concerts in Toronto since about 1981-82 (12-13 years old). Some of the highlights were Iron Maiden '82(1st ever concert). Seeing Black Sabbath with Ian Gillan singing and doing an amazing bongo solo. Pink Floyd in the early 90's. Metallica during the master of puppets tour. Some bands I have seen multiple times because they put on amazing shows would be:
Nine inch Nails
Judas Priest (going to their final Toronto show on Nov. 22)
Ministry
Rush
ACDC and I love to see David Wilcox when he's in town.
Worst experience at a show was the summer of '96 at Molson Park during a co-headlined show with Nine inch Nails and Soundgarden. It was a hot summer day and they ran out of water at the park. I met a girl who hung out with us for a while with her little brother and I was trying to pick her up so I offered to take her brother up close to the stage for Soundgarden. When the crowd got going, the kid was holding on to me for his life and was practically pulling my shorts down to around my knees so I pulled him back out of there and I was asking him about his sister on the way back up the hill to where our friends were and I found out that she neglected to tell me she had a boyfriend who she had misplaced at the show so trying to impress her brother was a huge waste of time. Nine inch Nails was great as usual and Soundgarden sucked live as usual and I had to use Hot V05 oil treatment for about a month on my then long hair because I woke up in the morning with a hangover and baseball diamond gravel in my hair from being in the moshpit all day.LOL
