Look who came into my yard this afternoon

I went out to my truck today and saw a small brown object in the yard which at first glance from a distance I thought it was a rabbitt. I walked over to it and was surprised to see this little fawn. She stood up on wobbly legs and walked a few steps and then layed down again. No sign of her mother so I figure they must have split different directions when they were startled by something. I watched her for a 1/2 an hr. and she went in the woods. I'm hopeful that her mother and her were reunited. I went out later on and there was no sign of her. My kids were so excited to watch her for so long.

Thanks for sharing. We went fishing this afternoon (melted more than fished) and saw a fawn just like that come down to the edge of the water and get a drink. It had more stable legs than what you're describing, but I love being out in nature and seeing these kinds of things.

Re: Look who came into my yard this afternoon
I remember in the old neighborhood when they built a Menards and tore down all those trees and wooded area. The result was deer, skunks, racoons, opossums, and other creatures living in our backyards. I'm not a tree hugger but we do need to take care of our lands.
Love this photo!

Thanks for posting the pictures Gary! That is awesome!! I love being outdoors and seeing the animals like that. Those fawns are just beautiful!! I have three acres of wooded land and other day my lab was chasing 2 bucks. They still had the velvet on the antlers!! We also have some wild turkeys that come by for a visit! I really enjoy it!

Re: Look who came into my yard this afternoon
Nice picture! I saw an older one in my neighbors yard yesterday. I have to work late two nights a week. One night on my way home I counted 38 deer. So pretty to watch but you have to be alert.
Thanks for sharing,
Dana

Very nice and peaceful Gary. Much better than the mountain Lions around here.

Gary: Neat pic. Right in your yard. Here in Ohio, with all the corn fields and small creeks by our home, we are also fortunate to see the wildlife. Thanks for sharing!

Re: Look who came into my yard this afternoon
Cool Gary, we have a deer trail right next to our house and they are always crossing South ST. We had two fawns a coupe years ago we used to feed because their mother was killed by a car down the street. The poor things would not leave their mother's body, it was sad. A local guy took the mother and the fawns hung around our house for the summer and fall. We did not have to bottle feed them since they were big enough but we bought lots of corn and oats for them. It was very stressful because we had to constantly go out in the road and stop traffic when they wandered out in the road. The kids could pet them, they became very tame. Just before winter set in, they disappeared into Nathan Hale Forest and hopefully are still alive and well and doing their thing
