Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Looks like Sandy will hit directly on Monday and Tuesday. Less than 2 years ago a blizzard. Last year Hurricane Irene hit, what was left of her, in August. Last Halloween a snow storm hit. And now this one. Looks like Sandy maybe the most powerful of all of them. I have prepared best that i can. Lose power and the sump pump is off, basement will get flooded. I'm less than a mile, to the Raritan Bay. With a full moon. A surge could come my way. Hoping for the best. Will ride it out and see what happens.

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Yep, here we go again. My area of CT had so many trees down that we could not drive anywhere without hitting a blocked road. Power out for a week. I expect things to be far worse this time around as we are directly in the path of the worst wind. If you are in the path, you need to prepare NOW. I spent the last 2 days getting our property ready. I am thinking the huge oak in our front yard may be an issue again, Irene took a bunch of huge limbs down but the wind duration will be a lot longer this time so I expect lots of tree damage in our area. We had to drive to Manchester through a circuitous route to get gas for the generators. I am filling up the Class A's 80 gallon gas tank and 10 5gal gas cans today while we can

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Hey,...they were just talking about this storm on the TV...
They said it'll pack an unusual extra double-whammy punch when the warm moist air of the storm hits the approaching cold air mass decending from WHERE else....
Don't hold it against us guys....
It's them damned Ruskies up to no good...blowin that cold stuff over the pole...

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
hey bernard being a former nj resident i feel for ya, but there is a bright side? all the moochers that proudly grace the front porch of a row home with a 40 ounce-r strapped to their side wont be going out to vote for the socialist in chief. bad weather cant stop those those who produce, but those who take its easier to stay on the couch

Same boat here, I am in the Pocono's in PA, We are forcasted to get 8+ inches of rain, winds could peck at 75mph and the is still a chance of snow here. On the down side, I am a trailer owner... If we get flooded, being at the top of a mountain, I really feel sorry for all down high... Just gunna sit back and ride it out, no choice... Hope all will be safe, good luck to all in this Bitches way!!!! HAPPY HELLOWEEN

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
I went down to the Boat Basin this morning,7am. It's already flooded! No rain yet, coming tonight, forcasters say. Wind just started,8:30am. Point Pleaseant Beach, which is about 25 miles from me. Is on the Weather Channel. The beach is almost covered already. This is with no rain and the main storm, at least 24 hours away. This is going to be a very bad one. I've done everything that i've can. Got everything off the basement floor that i could, bought things in from outside, got the food i needed. Now just watch and wait and probably wading.

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
1:45 pm. Went to work today. It hadn't rained yet. Rain did start around 6am. Very heavy. And powerful winds. Only a hand full of people showed up for work. Me and the wife, yes we work together, same hours same department, left after 6 hours. Wasn't raining that hard, got home in the same time. Roads weren't that bad. But right now winds are really howling. Eye will hit Atlantic City around 8-12 tonight. The winds will get even worst. Right now about 30-40 mph. Will go up to 80 mph. Later tonight. Most of the Jersey Shore is under water and the Boardwalks are just about all gone if not heavly damaged. Still have power. Will lose it, just hope alot later. Still than, stay warm and dry. Your local Hotwheel Redliner Weatherman.

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Hang in there Bernard! Mystic Ct about 1/2 hr. from me is already 2 feet under water on Main St. High tide tonight is going to be brutal. On the shore houses are already surrounded by water and mandatory evacuations. I'm hoping and praying that somehow we don't lose electricity. My wife works at Hartford Hospital and there closing the highways down so I don't know what she will do. She's sleeping and I'm hanging out with my kids playing with lincoln logs and you guessed Hotwheels. I work outside so a couple days off for me.

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Good to see you are still on the air Bernard. I am hearing landfall at 6PM now, the earlier the better I say to get this over with. I am well away from the coast, the only trouble I expect is no power sooner or later. The rain here is pretty light, the winds are definitely picking up.

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Hey,...it NEVER fails with these types of storms, that the Nutty TV weather people have to do an on location live clip where they get blown out of the cameras field of view... One day we'll witness a live death if they keep THAT up...
I see the storm claimed the HMS Bounty replica ship, the Captain, and 1 crewmember...out at sea off Cape Hatterras...

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Power is out, got the house generator up and running. 55-70mph winds coming in the next hour or so. We saw another transformer explode a few blocks away, lit up the whole sky for a sec

Both Letterman and Jimmy Fallon are taping infront of an empty studio... NO studio audience,...and half of The Roots is missing...lol...
Hey dude,...I'm probably 600 or so miles to the northwest of you guys up by Georgian Bay, and even WE are getting blasted from the outer edge of the thing...
Raining like crazy, windy as all h3ll (50mph gusts),...throw in a little COLD air (4 or 5 Celsius, 37 or 40 F),....NOT NICE!
I don't envy you guys, stay safe and dry...
And watch out for those 30 story tall building cranes flyin' around down there like the one I saw on the news earlier that broke off at the top and is dangling up there blowing in the wind...

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Wll, we made it thru it. Lost power for 4 days. Had Heat and water. Don't know how i able to keep the heat on. I live 1 mile from Union Beach, NJ. Which is pretty much gone. Were i live,Keyport, i'm 8/10 of a mile from the Raritan Bay. There's a hill you have to go down to get to the bay, about 25 feet. Well without that hill, most of Keyport would have been gone. What was, i mean was there, is gone, below the hill. If not gonr just standing, damaged by the water. They said a 12 foot surge came in, on top of the regular High Tide and on top of a Full Moon. Just was able to see the TV footage. Things i remember and places i used to always go too, down the shore are all gone or highly damaged. Seaside Hieghts,Sandy Hook,Seabright,Asbury Park,Point Pleasent Beach and all of the other Shore Towns in between. Me and the wife listen to the Radio for 4 days. Without that we didn't know nothing. Cell power was out. Work was open, so i was able to work 2 of the 4 days without power. Charged phones at work. Finding ice was hard. Neigbors was finding it and giving out to the rest of us. That was great. We all helped each other out as much as we could. Lucky for me, i filled up the gas tank in the car, before the Storm. Bought candles and batteries and matches. Was going to work at 2am and no towns had power and roads were blocked, by down trees and lines. Couldn't make no left hand turns on any intersections. So had to find different ways, to work, in the complete dark. It was hard. Not being wothout a computer didn't bother me. The wife was going nuts. She was doing her crafts. She doesn't plays card or board games. So played cards by myself. But mostly just listen to the radio. One thing i did get was good sleep! Wasn't much else to do. Had curfews, so going out, not to far was alright. Actual being on the road going to work, you could get pulled over, by the cops and told to go home. But cops didn't pull me over, they saw me. As i gotoo work i'm seeing more and more power coming on. So that's good.People lined up at cas stations, for hours, just standing there with there gas cans. I had a gas station opened by work so i got it at 3am,no lines. The early you go the better. My work hours stink, but for something like this it was good. Dark but no traffic. Going home, not so good. No traffic lights are working. Try to go one car at a time, lots of people don't know the rules. Becomes a 4 way stop sign. I'm sure i can go on, but for now just to let you know, i'm alive and have my health.

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
Hi Bernard......Glad you and your family are doing okay. I was thinking about you since we have had a few conversations about New Jersey, and I am still grateful to you for taking the pictures of my old House and neighboorhood in Middletown....Wow, As I told you I remember Sea Bright very well from back in the old days when all the Beach Clubs were there. I have also been to Sandy Hook many times with my Parents and even went there on school field trips. Of course I haven't been to that area since about 1970. I am sure alot had changed since then......but for me to think that it's all gone now is quite disturbing. In recent months I was seriously considering going back to NJ for a visit, to see my old neighboorhood and surrounding areas.......I guess I waited a little too long and it's upsetting......I am glad you are okay though....Take Care.....Drew

Re: Another Hurricane Coming to New Jersey!
We just got power back but it's hard to believe that there is still homes in Coventry that are still without. Lots of downed trees in areas hard to get at. Just down the street at the Nathan Hale Homestead, we noticed power lines down all over still that CL&P has not gotten to yet
