Whose fishing this summer?
Every year I post a pic or 2 of some excellent fishing...remember without a pic its just a story!
I asked my bro-in-law if he wanted to go out on the lake last Sunday...we agreed upon a time and my father-in-law decided to come
along as well...he likes to drive the boat when we troll.
Lake Erie...out for monster walleyes!
1st hit a nice 2.5 lber...then nuttin', a small perch, followed by an even smaller smallie!
2 hours go by, wham #1 pole down...wham #2 down...double header brings in a 7lber and a 8lber!
As I net 2nd fish and #3 pole goes down, so I re-bait pole 1 as #3 fish is getting reeled in...get my lure out 110', and bingo
the rod is down again after not being in for 2 minutes...it's the big one, holy Aunt Esther!
My 2nd biggest walleye in 10 years...29" & a robust 8 lb 10 oz!
All in all had we been in the Bass/Eye tourney held here last week we would have placed 2nd with a 5 fish total of over 32 lbs!!!
...and $10K to boot!
Easily my best day ever, to catch 4 big 'eyes in less than 10 minutes is unheard of here...well that's my story & here's the proof...
let's hear about yours!!!

Re: Whose fishing this summer?
Colin: Monster Eyes! Good you caught them that size this time of the year. I am due to go up later this year on my brother-in-laws whaler as it can take the waves. Mega congrats to you!!! I am off work this week and if I can get the boat out I plan to go for some night bass fishing. I will post pics if I am able to get out and land some puppies. A.J.
Re: Whose fishing this summer?
As soon as the lakes crack in the high country it's on untill it warms up ...We fish hard for the first few weeks until it slows, then it's pretty much hey ya want to do a road trip ? After that it's deer season and fishing is on hold...

Nite fishing for bass? In a boat? Where do you go, as in what body of water? As you know we are fortunate to have one of thee best Smallmouth fisheries in the world here in Lake Erie/Niagara River... Nite bass fishing...hmmm reminds me of nite putting with the Deans' daughter...
Jeff,
Get yer ass out and fish!
Mike....let's see some pics, bass country I bet.
My buds just went and scored some browns and a nice rainbow...such diversity!
"FISH ON"!!!
Re: Whose fishing this summer?
That's some good eating! I'm headed back the the in-laws' place in Michigan in a few eeks and will definitely be enjoying at least a couple good old fashioned walleye fish fries!
Re: Whose fishing this summer?
There's no better fishing than walleye fishing!
Have a good trip Doug! ...and keep the lines tight!
Re: Whose fishing this summer?
Got another beauty...pic up later!
Re: Whose fishing this summer?
Hey Colin: I have access to a private lake loaded with largemouth that feed on stocked trout in Spring and Fall. Kind of like a lake Castaic/Casticas from Cali here in Ohio, but the bass here top out at 10 pounds, which is do-nice size for Ohio. Crystal clear water, so nightime fishing in Summer/early Fall is best. I have been bad. The boat has been sitting in the same spot in the back yard for nearly three years. Gotta get out on the water. Plan to hit Erie this Fall with my brother-in-law for Smallies and the pig walleyes when they come into the shallower water. Glad you have been able to get out.

Re: Whose fishing this summer?
AJ,
When I was in TX we fished Lake Fork where 10lb largies were commonplace. Best we ever did were a pair of 7's and some 6's. However if I'm correct the NY State record for a largemouth is less than 9 lbs. Just do to the fact these fish shut off during the winter lose all their weight I suppose. Yet Cali, TX, FL fish probably feed all year round, our fish get the length but never the girth like the ones I saw in TX!
Your lake sounds awesome! I still have it on my list to go and hit the western basin of Lake Erie and grab those 'eyes!
Thanks for the reply!
Tight lines and stay thirsty my friend!
