I did the SFT I just posted in 34 deg weather with a windchill factor over the weekend...I know its gets extremely cold up there but you can most likely paint with the lacquer outside as much as you can stand it. I use true custom automotive paint so there is no chance for me to even think about indoors without a very extensive professional system installed...in fact I use a full face two stage respirator outdoors. Spend those extreme months drilling...then when the weather breaks paint a bunch of those cast you have ready, being down here I can paint all winter & in fact is my best time for painting...gun spits from too much humidity...bugs & there are so many other things to do in the summer.
Anyway really think about painting indoors, if you got to do it make sure you do it right...dangerous stuff man.

Greetings from Iowa
I am also in the same boat, cold winter season will shut down my paint season once the outdoor temps fall below 50° F . I am working on restoring Hotwheels Mustang Stockers and I am in the same boat, cold winter Temps. During the winter season I spend my time looking for possible restorations. I will often tear the restoration project apart during the winter mounhs and prep it so its ready for painting in the spring.
Anyway, if you paint inside make sure you can vent the fumes, hate to see any kids exposed to them.
Do you do any ice fishing?????
Bob,
Model car builders have been using indoor paint booths for years. Most builders make their own, but there are specialty companies that sell complete indoor booths for hobbyists.
Try and get your hands on an issue of Scale Auto Enthusiast magazine (you can find it at any Barnes and Noble store) and check out the classified ads throughout the magazine. You're sure to find a booth manufacturer in there. Actually, here's a link to an indoor booth available on Micro Mark's website; indoor paint booth
If you are particularly handy, here's a link to a how-to article about making your own booth; make your own paint booth
Good luck,
Bob Jordan
