Computer question: Can't send emails to YAHOO addresses only

Any help on this problem is dually appreciated: I've got an Earthlink account for my web/email and have had it for about 5 or 6 years with no troubles, and I use a Mac with Mac mail. A week ago, I stopped being able to send emails to all Yahoo email accounts (I get back only "returned mail" emails), but can send to all others and can receive from all including Yahoo. I did nothing to change any settings on my machine. Earthlink is currently working on my issue, but hasn't been able to resolve it yet and my trust with them is dwindling. Suggestions or ideas before I jump ship for another provider?

I had the same thing with anyone with a comcast.net e-mail address a while back. I could receive, but not send to ANYone with that server.

Come to find out, some mail servers (maybe Yahoo as well) will block you completely from accessing anyone on their server if they believe you are sending spam - legitimately or not ! They don't even look into the situation, they just put up a block.

Well, I wasn't sending any spam in any kind of quantity, but apparently SOMEone was using my e-mail address to send spam (I have no idea how that works ! (?))

I had to deal directly with Comcast (which was a real treat .... NOT !) in order to clear my address and have them remove the automatic block on my e-mail address. Everything is fine now.

Maybe Yahoo Mail has implemented a similar protection basis - might want to contact the proper representative at Yahoo and see if you can get any answers. Good Luck !

A gentleman and a scholar; brilliant idea and definitely worth a try. I don't send nearly enough email for it to be considered spam or anything like it, but I'll contact the Cloverfield monster that is Yahoo tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion!
